This means that you will walk... you will walk a lot... in order to pay customs.
Not only walk, but go to MOT, wait for some days (in my case at least), the go pick a paper from MOT and take it to the airport again.

It was a long and humiliating process which is forbidding me from ordering any other phone from Aliexpress/online although I am intrigued by the OP6 or the xiaomi Mi8 etc...
Had this happen to me when I ordered the smallest helicopter you can imagine with 4 minutes flight time. They were afraid I can hook a camera to it and I had to wait for an "army specialist to check it".

Dude whenever you go to the airport for the second time to finish the procedure you will WALK and I really meant it. You will go from building to building and they forbid you from using your car even though there are parkings.

Anyways If you feel that it is not worth it try to tell them that this package is not for you and that it is a mistake and that they need to send it back to the sender. ( I don't think you need to pay at this point) And then you ask the seller for a refund minus the shipping price.

Man I did that procedure and WALKED all the walk you're talking about. It is humiliation as I said.
I was expanding on your comment to emassaad.

Ahahahahah Thanks for pointing it out, I kinda mixed the two of you. Sorry :S

Now we wait for emassaad's humiliation story :)

The MOT may not be open, so unless you are fine with waiting until Monday to do that (with eid just on the horizon), then go ahead. Just find a decent time you can go during lunch or early in the am, and get it done on or before Friday. The paper from the MOT take 2 to 3 days, so you may be cutting close with a holiday around the corner.

GL (already gone through it)

So what happened? Did you get your phone?
OK
First Libanpost airport:
reception
than first floor customs, waited 20min for the lady of the Jomrok to open the package, she priced the phone at 200,000LL ( was not able to argue with her) received a paper to take to ministry of telecommunications.
Second Ministry of telecommunications:
didn't wait they took the paper and asked me to phone back on Wed to check if it is signed

I will update you more

by the way no walking yet :)
So now local mafias + official dealers are hand in hand to make it hard to people to buy online?
Exactly. Seems that's their target out of all that. They don't want people to benefit from ordering online. Kill the competition so we are obliged to buy locally.
No man. The more people order the less time they have to check all the packages = less customs.

Just keep on buying online, they can't stop progress.

The phones in this country from the two biggest android companies, Samsung and Huawei are actually less expensive than they sell in the EU and N. America while Apple is a bit more overpriced here. The prices do take a while to drop though, like an S7 (2 years old) is still running near $500 here while on amazon you can find one for a third off. The problem is that there are lots of phones which are not sold here (OnePlus, Google, Xiaomi, among others), and spending a couple of hours running around is worth it to many of us. I only wish that they would open up a little MoT booth in the same area as customs so we could do all of the steps the bureaucracy wants us to do in one spot.

In any case, the next phone is going to be ordered and shipped to the UAE and a family member will bring it back. ;)

Well I've ordered a Xiaomi mobile from AliExpress. It's been in Lebanon for quite a while. As for my experience with expensive stuff, they usually take a maximum of 3 weeks, but for my first time ordering a smart phone, i really hope i don't have to go through what @emassaad have.
For those who experienced the following tracking status as i am now, do you still have the tracking logs of it? If so please share? If not did you pay any taxes?
"Package status: In transit
Destination: Lebanon
2018-07-06 11:50 LEBANON-BEIRUT SORTING CENTRE, Record item customs information (Inb) Retention Reason: Item handed over to customs authority for final delivery."

Thank you :)
