Hello,
I had problems with my PC so i decided to format the disk and reinstall win8 i already made a full clean format and now each time i try to install windows during the installation it gives an error: 0x80070550 with a message that something is missing or corrupted.
Please help. I tried to find a solution on google but there is no answer or explanation
Nabs
Hello, Khofo. During which part of the installation does this error pop up?
khofo
During: "Getting files ready for installation" between 45%-60%
Nabs
Seems like a cyclic redundancy error. What are you installing from?
khofo
From CD
shant
why not buy a new disc?
Nabs
Exactly. Try copying the disc to another, see if you still get the error.

I've had this before and it was a corrupted ISO. It might be easier to first try what the guys above have said but with a USB Flash Drive so as not to waste a disc if the Windows installation was indeed corrupted.
If it is corrupted, then you can download an MSDN Windows ISO and place that on a USB flash drive.
You will need to use the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool for that. Yes, it works for Windows 8 as well.

Thanks all for that but after making a full format of the drive (took 8 hrs) and retried a couple of times it worked.
