Hey there,
To make this game as authentic as possible, we needed a Lebanese element on board the project to help give it that Middle Eastern flavour. No, I’m not talking about tabbouleh and stuffed grape leaves and baba ganoush – even though they are yummy – but rather about the Lebanese team comprising a composer, 3D artists and a writer – yours truly! The idea was that only the Lebanese can truly know what their country is like and portray it accordingly...
I can't (yet?) post link to screenshots or videos of the game : / but let's explain a bit
So,I am part of a dynamic and young team in Lebanon collaborating with Matsuko (they worked on games like Age of Conan, Assassin's Creed I & II or Far Cry 2 & 3) on a RPG called Cedaria: Blackout, first game featuring a blend of Middle Eastern and steampunk architecture and style.
We want to develop a truly great game, but to do that we need your feedback, and critique so that we could improve our work!
About the game itself :
The plot:
The game is set on a distant island, recently plunged into darkness and industrial decay after the breakdown of the Phoenix - an ingenious machine which supplied the island with electricity and a catalyst for the modernization of society. While the causes remain a mystery, the casualties are clear – the cities are dark and businesses go bankrupt. No one goes unaffected and once peaceful clans turn on each other.

The Goal of the Game:
The game is centred around the energy crisis on Cedaria. The Phoenix Machine - a wonder of its age, has broken down under mysterious circumstances. The goal of the game is to track down the parts that can help repair the machine and to find out what actually happened. Tracking down these pieces will require you to do more than just finding out their locations though.
Purpose of the game:
The game is developed for an NGO which is focusing on conflict resolution and it is meant as a fun and serious game at the same time. We are focusing on fun first but there are some learning goals embedded into the game as well. The original target audience for the game was a Middle East audience. However, we realized that the game should also appeal also to gamers outside Lebanon :)
Since the game should be released in January we would be glad to hear your comments now!
