  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time VS Final Fantasy 7

Those 2 games defined the 6th generation of gaming, both were released around the same time in 1997 and 1998.

The Legend of Zelda: OoT was released in 23rd of November in 1998 for the Nintendo 64, and I think Nintendo has done an amazing job taking the elements of The Legend of Zelda: A Link To the Past, and shifting it to 3D.

Final Fantasy VII (or 7) was released in 7th of September in 1997 for the Sony PlayStation, an Amazing RPG, lovable characters, phenomenal plot, deep customization, and 70+ hours of gameplay.

I know that OoT was released a year after FF7, but that doesn't stop us from comparing them, right? Also the games are from 2 different genres, OoT is an Action-Adventure game, while FF7 is an RPG as I stated earlier.

Personally, it's really and I mean REALLY hard for me to choose between the 2 games. I like the plot and customization of FF7, but OoT has some kind of charm making it stand up in a lot of ways.

OoT is full 3D, while FF7 takes a Sonic 3D Blast-like camera while you're not in battle.

If you haven't played any of them yet, Final Fantasy 7 is available in PSN Store as a PSone classic for PS3, PSP, and PS Vita also it's available on steam, and Ocarina of Time is available in the Wii's Virtual Console, or you can get Ocarina of Time 3D which is a remaster of the original for the Nintendo 3DS and it's the definitive version of OoT, if you have a 3DS then it's a must-buy.

You obviously haven't gone through defeating Emerald and Ruby weapons. Especially Ruby. That son of a bitch...

Honestly, I'm only 15 hours into the game.

I saw this from the reviews for FF7 I read.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was another epic game in my childhood. I loved that game.

That makes sense. Cause all I got when I was 1-4 years old was an NES...
Then a GBA
Then a PS2
Then a PSP
then a Vita.

No. We only got electricity in 2001. TVs started appearing a couple years later, although I had a friend who got one on the black market a year before.

Seriously though, yeah we had N64. I never did, I had switched to Sony's PS around this time.
Before you ask, we had the older generation consoles as well. I had my first Gameboy circa 1993. My friends had NES and Atari consoles. SNES came soon after...

People older than me had much older consoles, for instance I found a Commodore 64 in a friend's grandpa's attic.

By the time the games you mention came out, gaming was super mainstream in Lebanon, me and all my friends were playing them.
Thanks for the memories :) I just borrowed my friend's 3DS to play OOT :)
So...no one played Final Fantasy 7? I'm playing it right now on my Vita. Just finished Cosmo Canyon~
