rahmu wroteDöner, beurk.
My nightmare is happening, the Döner has arrived to Lebanon and is it touted as...
suspense...
A healthy, high quality choice!
I had the same reaction. Döner advertised as healthy... Then I started having these visions of
lebanized (it should be a word), döner places with air conditioning, free refill sodas, valet parkings, delivery services, ...
I'm pretty sure that's what hell's cafeteria looks like.
Seriously, though I went and had one there (Disclaimer: it was 4 AM and I was a little drunk).
It was pretty good actually, maybe the best Döner I've ever had (best döner, not shawarma, not pita souvlaki). So if you feel like having a döner it's pretty good actually, except that, normally, the Döner concept is something that you have at the corner of the street or on your way, not a place you drive to with the express purpose of having a döner...
And advertising it as healthy food is still ridiculous :)
Nobody answered as to if hamburgers qualify, but if they do, my best sandwich, without contest (well maybe just a little from Burgermeister Berlin) was a Moroccan Lamb Burger, at "Meat José" (It's not a place but an event that takes place from time to time)
MrClass wroteTHE best sandwich I've ever had in my life is the Kabab Orfelli sandwich at Zaghloul (Next to Gallerie Samaan) ; it is so good, you want to eat it indefinitely
The meat is juicy (it is well cooked too); sandwich also has grilled onions in it, and is so clean and cheap. Forget about Barbar or Kababji crap; Zaghloul is king of grilled sandwiches
On that topic, I had a real good kabab (maybe the best ever) at that kabab place facing (forgot the name) Classic burger in Monot. We actually wanted to have a burger but I didn't have enough money so we left classic burger and went across the street. That place is relatively new and has plastic cows mounted on the ceiling... hard to miss.
I'm also a fan of the kebbe sandwich (I think it's called orfali, not sure - I just go there and point at the meat ) at Mazar restaurant, dekwaneh.
