well, I was watching top gear and there was a challenge where each of the hosts gets a car and would fill the car full tank of gas and no refills are allowed and they have to drive 760 miles (1223 kilometers) and see if they make it...here is a link to the video if you want to watch:
http://gorillavid.in/rfn9msa4b19h
thing is, when they meet they ask each other how many miles per gallon there cars do, and
jeremy says 35 miles per gallon
james says 50 miles per gallon
and richard says 74 miles per gallon (and he says it is one of the most economical cars ever)
now I know how to convert from miles to kilometers it's :miles*1.60934 = kilometers but I don't think the same applies to the miles per gallon thing...
my questions are:
is there some kind of formula to convert mpg to kpg
what is meant per gallon? is it like we say in Lebanon beltanke (بالتنكي)?
I looked up on google and the only thing I found is this which kinda doesn't make sense :
http://www.mpgtokpl.com/mpgtokpg.htm
because if Richard said that his car does 74 miles to the gallon and it's one of the most economical cars... does that mean it does about 120 kpg? that's not very economical, our old 1998 mazda does around 140 kpg....does that mean it does 87 mpg?
I'm kinda confused...thanks in advance!
