I want to buy a Katana sword online and I already did a purchase of a non-weapon item and it arrived. However, am wondering if I need to register the weapon or something. I didn't pay any extra Tax on the previous item ( mouse ), anybody know if weapons will have an extra Tax ?
I think you should ask someone from the Lebanese Customs or a broker agent like Aramex, they usually know about various tax laws regarding import-export.

If you find out, please let us know. I have a sword in Tanzania that's been gathering dust for the last ten years... I might order it back.

P.S: You imported a "Mouse"? Is there a mouse shortage in Lebanon?
@cullinan86
No there is no mouse shortage, but I bought a gaming mouse for $7, try to beat that :P
I ordered a Mug for $11 which I saw the same in Lebanon for like $40 :P

I simply don't feel like getting raped by the lebanese merchants, now I have a way out.
Since most Lebanese products are from China why not simply get it from the source?

Merchant rape, government rape, insurance rape, etc. Whatever way you turn it seems we still live in the far west, we just don't know it.
So it's mostly about minimizing damage...

Good luck anyway.

PS: you could manufacture your own sword too :D

Ninjatō is for Ninja

How much does it cost?
I really don't know, never bothered to ask, however, they have a page on facebook, look for gift mania. You can ask there :)
the price of katania swords depends on many things:

When is it made?
Is it in good shap?
It belonged to who?
Is it original? Are you so sure?

They are vintage items, in order to know the price of any vintage items, you have to ask these 4 questions

A real Japanese made sword would cost over $4000 and increase by at least 4% every year, because the US dollar is losing value each year due to the national debt, + The shipping tax, that being said, you'll be lucky if you find one, rare swords, not just any swords, katana is most respected and well known weapon in the history of weapons.

And you're not gonna be able to use it, it requires training, if you want to buy a fake one for 100$, buy it from lebanon, why bother importing it? it's not worth the risk

Are the swords they sell any good for training?
Also can anyone pinpoint the shop location on Google Maps please?

Yesterday I just got 2 wooden training swords from Gift Mania, each is for 65 000. They're not very durable for hits though, one broke after first use. The shop guy is good though, he imidiately replaced my broken sword with a new one.

Don't these things cost a million dollars? (Reference Kill Bill :P)
the starting price for most entry level Shinken and Nihonto (real katana fromin Japan) is more like US$3000

you can get cheap Shirasaya ( blade house ) and some subpar blades for decorative reasons .. all stainless steel above 12 inch becomes extremely brittle .. plus real katana is made from high carbon steel , it will crack if the proper technique ( wrist move ) is not used .

plus a real katana will have a hamon ( the temper line in the sword ) ..try bamboo of Musashi swords or a more expensive ppk elite from hanwei forge .

a not so well known fact : the main weapon for the samurai was the bow , it was shameful to fight with the sword as it will become blunt and very brittle in a duel and might well crack
