for the coolant i suggest high quality engine coolant it contains anti oxidizing agents and chemicals that aid in heat transfer,i think its worth a try
I got some anti-freeze for use, but haven't yet used it. You're right; anti-freeze is used for such applications.

it is a good idea when using rubber or copper/nickel tubes , other than that it will eat through the plastic
best thing is either pure ethanol ( spirto ) or distilled water with eau de javel or dettol .

do not use eau de javel because its active compound is Sodium hypochlorite which is a strong oxidizer it would do all sorts of bad things to the metal and tubing, dettol is ok, ethanol is also very bad for some plastics and it would damage acrylic above 40 degree Celsius.
