AVOlio wroteBut there are HDMI cables specific for 3D . Wont those work, To bypass the 24fps limit ?
Or those cables are just for 3D Movies playback, and not gaming ?
If not , how will i fix the issue of gaming on the TV with 60fps @1080 ? if its possible.
Maybe i should get the 23'' 9 series samsung 3D monitor.
But the thing is, i cant game on monitors , i need at least a 32'' TV .
@enthralled
Where and how did you get your 780 ? Please tell the whole story :)
I assume you've already done some more research since your post. But I'll explain.
3D gamers usually go with either Tridef or Nvidia (or both). Tridef isn't nearly as good as Nvidia, it does support Oculus Rift though. I suggest going with Nvidia as a starter, which also has 2 options:
1- 3D Vision kit + 3D vision certified monitor/projector
http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-displays.html [can support 3D 1080p@60fps if indicated]
2- 3DTV Play + 3D HDTV or projector
http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-overview.html (aren't 3D Vision certified) [support 3D 720p@60fps... 1080p@24 is UNPLAYABLE FOR GAMING]
Now your case; you want something bigger than 3d vision certified monitors. I suggest you settle with 720p. It's really not as bad as it sounds; you can always turn on AA to max and set all effects to max settings, compared to 1080p, where you'll get frame drops if you do that. 720p in 3D is really good.
For best experience, go with a 3D vision DLP projector. The Acer H5360 is among best choices for the price (for the H5360 you have to buy 3D Vision kit which includes emitter+glasses).
I have a Sony kdl-40hx750 3D TV that I use with 3DTV Play software. I game 720p@60fps and watch movies 1080p@24.
(here's my specs
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqXql6Q_IBP-dFVUVmVsckE5bEFGOURQRVNJclplUnc&usp=sharing parts under Amazon US, a relative got them for me from USA)
Even latest available HDMI (1.4b) can't do 1080p@60fps. 3D Vision ready monitors require dual-link DVI connectors, will not work with HDMI.
We should start seeing HDMI 2.0 capable displays around next year; if you can wait, perhaps you'll have better options.
3D Vision ready monitors are also getting upgraded next year with G-Sync, which will improve 3D performance
http://3dvision-blog.com/9157-the-new-nvidia-g-sync-technology-will-support-3d-vision-as-well/ that's if you can wait...
My experience with my setup:
Single GTX780 is enough for S3D 720p@60fps.
3D TVs aren't good for 3D gaming (due to ghosting and crosstalk). Certain TVs are better than others, but it's the tech difference which makes DLP projectors and DLP TVs best in this regard (DLP Tvs are dying).
My future plan is to get both, Sony HMZ T2 (or T3) and Oculus VR (when consumer ver comes out). Reason: Sony HMZ is as good as a projector (I don't have space for a projector screen). Oculus VR isn't comparable to Sony HMZ, I'll use the OR for VR supported games that can do high FOV and head tracking -otherwise the HMZ.
Lastly, I say again don't worry about the 720p limit. 3D is SO immersive it shouldn't bother you, you'll get extra resources to crank up AA + other effects.. Once you have a good S3D setup, there's no going back. Now I plan my Steam purchases according to 3D support :)
Sites I follow for 3D vision talk + FIXES:
https://forums.geforce.com/default/board/49/ you can find WIP fixes that aren't (yet) released on Helixmod blog, such as Bioshock Infinite, Outlast... to name a few. I like to consider them community exclusives Lol

EDIT: if you're in Beirut (near Hamra), you can come over to my place, have a chat and I can show you some S3D games.
EDIT 2: I meant to say even latest available HDMI (1.4b) can't do 1080p@60fps. (Fixed)
