You won't be able to use it unless kinect is connected. Pure bullshit
Time to get back on PC investment ;)
I will wait to see if PS4 will be modded or not

It would be a challenge to crack them. They're both going to be online based.
It's a shame, was actually considering buying an Xbox for once. Too bad that their goal for supreme ubiquity has to get in the way of a possibly great and well-designed console.
Lets get the thread going! Oh and make it a sticky!
Here are confirmed stuff about the XBox one
Here's how it's gonna work:
>Go to Gamestop and buy a used game (from owner X) for 5-10-20 dollars
>At home, in order to become owner Y you need to pay the full price of the game as if it was new to Microsoft via Digital Payment, so that is additional 60 dollars
>If you bring the game to your bro's house, he needs to pay the full price again and he becomes owner Z
Basically, the same disc can be played on an infinite amount of different XBoxes as long as you pay the full retail price to MS for each one.
Furthermore, the new XBox has to go online for at least 5 minutes every day or you will be unable to play your games. Couple this with a fact that every online package is paid, there exists no free alternative like PS Network.
Also, The console itself never shuts down fully, in order for Kinect to be always powered on (1984 vibe right here). And by the way, Kinect is mandatory and comes with every console.
I guess Sony or Nintendo win this Gen.

As far as I understood it, if I have a disc, I can play it on other Xboxes and then bring it back home. Once I bring it back home, and play it, others who have installed the game on their hard drives would be unable to play it since they don't own it. Then they can buy it and play it.
I don't see how this is a bad thing? If we're dealing with optical discs only, and I bring a game over to your house, play it, then go back to mine and play it, you no longer have my disc and cannot play it. Same concept here, except that as installs were introduced, some system has to cover up for the fact that now both of us have copies of the same game on our consoles.

so if i have two rigs , i need to pay for two cds ?
Connectivity is surveillance, discounts are rip-offs, customer-care is consumer-exploitation.Monkey D. Luffy wrote Also, The console itself never shuts down fully, in order for Kinect to be always powered on (1984 vibe right here). And by the way, Kinect is mandatory and comes with every console.
jk
(If you read the book then you'll understand)

a month later
So if I understand you just need to launch one time the game online to ''activate'' it,then you can play offline like we always did for the past 30 years ;)
It's another irritating anti-piracy thingy from microsoft but I am pretty sure our russian and chinese hackers will find a way around
