The glass is fused to the screen. I don't think you can replace the glass alone, there is about a 100% chance you could damage the screen when removing it from the broken glass layer. At least, that was with an iPhone 4. You can try and buy replacement glass from DealExtreme and try it, won't hurt.

And if it doesn't work: You won't be saving much money, but I'd suggest buying a replacement screen for the S3 from DealExtreme and replace it yourself, so that you avoid the "repair services" placing a used / fake screen on your phone.

DealExtreme has free shipping to Lebanon.
Thanks for the advice.

Honestly I have already replaced the phone with a nexus 4.
I just wanna try to fix it and give it to someone.

DX as well as other sites sell the glass alone and there are a few tutorials on how to fix it.
I think I'm gonna try my luck on this one.

By the way DX doesn't have the blue color front glass. Can you suggest another trustworthy site?

Thanks again.
you should be aware that there is another 100% chance that you will get dust stuck between the screen and the glass, its very difficult to put it on without getting dust stuck in there, other than that yasamoka is right, im sure you've heard from people that replacing the screen will never get it back the way it was, that is true because there isn't legit screens, all are fake and yet you are charged with 250$ for a 30 min process
I tried the procedure myself, ended up breaking the digitizer.

So i bought a new screen for 220$ and replaced it myself. The replacement is original (not all are fake) and the phone now runs great. I still have the glass however I'm gonna retry the procedure on another S3.

Could you please advise where you got the glass screen from? I would love it try it myself. Iv seen a youtube video where they used a hairdryer to remove front glass.

do it in the stores they take 60$ for it
A friend of mine successfully bought and replaced the glass on his S3. He bought 2 glasses just in case he broke one, which he did. He said that it was very hard and stressful but doable, and that he did it by following the instructions of a youtube video.

Any idea where he got it from?

I have previously changed the screen with an original for around 200$, now broke it a second time, and my wife broke hers too, so we\re up for 400$ if we don't find another solution.

i would give it to a shop for 60\4 but do you have someone who can do it the right way?

thanks

yep ebay.
Hey I got one from Ali Express for 15$, but sold my phone as-in in the mean time...
It's still at Liban Post. For some reason it'll cost me 5000 LBP to clear it, so I'll let you have it for 20$.
Let me know if you want it.

PS: The glass is pebble blue and it comes with the tool set required to do the procedure.
I got one from amazon for 20 $ .. changed the glass screen and it works like a charm

is there any dust left under the glass? what did you use to glue the new screen.
It will be nice if you can post how you did it so all of us can benefit from your experience.
I did it on two mobiles
first you do the basic : remove sim , battery , etc
usually the screen comes with its own tools ..but I bought a set of extra thin guitar picks ( around 0.5 mm ) for this
with a home hair blower (séchoir ) you start heating your machine for about 5 min .. but you need to monitor the heat ( excess heat will break the glass )
then you start inserting the guitar pick somewhere close to the broken part ( I found the glass and glue is the weakest there ) and slowly you start moving the pick around the contour or border of the screen ( tip : when you move the pick , put one in its place so the glass stay separated from the digitizer )
keep alternating heat and pressure from the picks slowly until the entire glass is removed

then clean the digitizer to remove the old glue ( I use acetone or nail polisher with a clean rag ) ..when this is done ..I use a microfiber rag to clean the glass and digitizer ( work in a clean non dusty area )

do not use the glue that comes with the glass ..it is very weak ...instead use dots of patex ( no super glue ) on the border of the phone ..just tiny dots

.. put battery back ..turn on and check .. if you find anything bad you can remove the screen easily and rectify the problem ..
when done ..leave the phone with a bit of heat for 10 minutes .. then it should be ok
Thanks Tarek.
I have an electronic parts cleaner (spray), can I use that to clean the digitizer?
from what I noticed and read the digitizer is covered with a thin layer of glass , so anything that doesn't erode the glass should be ok

the original glass is glued to the digitizer, so when you just out some dots on the borders woudn't that affect the responding of the touch screen? Isn't there any glue that we can spread all over the screen just like the original one?

was the screen you bought made of glass or plastic? can you post a link to it?

thanks again.
