Hello fellow Lebgeeks, Decided to write this thread while I wait for my Tawook sandwich and I hope some of you find it useful. This thread is basically aimed at programs which help speed up your system/optimization/performance, and multiple cleaners.
If you happen to have any recommendations for this thread, please feel free to simply private message me by clicking here (Click here to PM me and don't forget to add Opeth at the top)

Windows Optimization/Cleaners/Performance Boosters

**

1. What is an Optimization Program?

In computer science, program optimization or software optimization is the process of modifying a software system to make some aspect of it work more efficiently or use fewer resources.[1] In general, a computer program may be optimized so that it executes more rapidly, or is capable of operating with less memory storage or other resources, or draw less power.

This is from the official wiki, so basically it's saying in fewer words; to make your system run more efficient, faster, and cleaner.

2. What is a Cleaner?

A cleaner is a program that deletes unnecessary files, such as cache/cookies/temp data, files, which normally stores up a lot of memory that is not Normandy to have on your system at all times. Even watching a simple youtube video saves temp data.

Cleaner/Optimization Downloads:

So now that has been determined, we can get to the actually list of downloads, as mentioned for the third time, these are ALL from official websites, popular, safe, & working, so don't worry.

1) CCleaner

So CCleaner is by far my favorite cleaner, it removes substantial amounts of un-wanted data/files/temp-files, etc from your system, and I have personally noticed a boost in my browser speed after this is use, sometimes it will clean up to 13GB in no more then a week of browsing. I personally use this once a week to every two weeks, but you can do it daily if you want, there's no recommended time, that's just personal preference.

2) SlimCleaner

Personally, I only just downloaded this one, but it may just become my new favorite, it's a cleaner, and an optimization program, it gives off great statistics, has an amazing GUI, and it's a gold certified partner of Microsoft. Definitely worth a try.

3) GameBooster 3.0

This is by far, 110% no doubt my favorite optimizer there is our there, not only does it give a dramatic increase for FPS for gaming, it speeds up your computer for general use by closing unnecessary applications/processes that are currently open. If you're a gamer, or just a general computer user, I would highly recommend game booster, and it's free, amazing program.

Download GameBooster 3 (Click Here)

4) Advanced SystemCare Free

I personally haven't used this, yet I have watched some reviews, this is from the same people who make Game Booster, which is amazing, so I doubt I would be let down by this software, give it a try, give me some feed back below if you want, or in a private message, and I might give it a try, or if I do, I'll update this thread.

Once again if you have any recommendations shoot me a PM like I've stated above.

Stay away from registry cleaners/compressors and such stuff they have a negative effect for some reason. Where you will face problems with your windows and damaging your experience

+1 on this.

I wouldn't use any of these programs except CCleaner. What's the point of having 20 heavy cleaning apps when all of them together, or some alone can degrade the performance of your slow computer. I would just uninstall all the crapware/bloatware or useless apps in the PC then install CCleaner, run it a bunch of times. Restart, then go to %Temp% and delete everything and restart again. Sometimes I manually set the Page File. (2x the size of your RAM on all your partitions).
Check out windirstat

http://windirstat.info/

It gives you a very useful visual representation of the disk space usage on your computer. It's really the best way of freeing space and it served me well several times.

And why is that? Does it bother you that one would post the recommendation directly?

Of course it doesn't :P But I might not check the thread for a while or I might forget about it but a PM gives a notification etc.

The ones in this thread have been thoroughly tested by me and gave positive results unlike some who messed up my registry more than they fixed (stay away from wise cleaner lol) but I agree that CCleaner is beast.
venam wroteI used to have those when I was on windows (Oh! What a nightmare!)
My preferred one was advanced system optimizer.
Now on my *nix box I barely do anything.
If I need to I'll just do:
rm -r /tmp/* && rm -r ~/.local/share/Trash/files/*
EDIT: Before switching to systemd I used to add to my bootline e4rat, however with systemd-readahead it's slower if I use e4rat so I don't recommend it to anyone using systemd.
I dual boot linux mint and windows 7 so it's all good ^^

Dual booting might lead into problem one day or another and that might also ruin your computer speed.
It's always better to run a single OS on a single machine.
If you want to use another OS, just to test it, than use a virtual machine.
I play a lot of games so I need windows though linux surpasses it on every level btw it's always nice to see HF users here.

It might sounds contradicting but I've never played more games than on my *nix machine, and they run super fast.
(Don't tag me with those HF users, I only go there to troll them when I'm bored to death.)
Well you're Ub3r which I've been accepted for but I'm broke so won't be getting that for a while lol btw do you run games using wine ?

Most of the games I play are emulated.
I mean by that that I play old games from NES/SNES/PS1/GAMEBOY/ATARI/N64/etc..
I have a joystick for the computer so it's always a pleasure to play games on it.
I never had problems with missing drivers (like on another OS I know).
If I don't want to play an old school game I just plug my PS2 and that's it.
You sir have earned my respect by stating all those consoles which I cherish ^^ I just love PS1 Jrpgs and almost everything nintendo has put out up to the Gamecube.

A friend of mine just started a really freaking nice website for retro gamers, also check out the new 4chan section /vr/ if you like retro gaming.
I don't remember if the ROM download is open to public, if it's not join the irc.unixhub.net #unixhub and ask joomla.
Also, chiptune/8-bit music ftw!

Seems to be invite only I'll be sure to ask for one after my SA:MP server is online, All my attention is there atm and yes 8 bit music FTW.
I don't use any of those unless it was critical and the only solution out of my problem is to use one of those programs! Especially the registry ones, could screw your system badly, so always do backup and system recovery snapshot before using it!
