hello Geeks,
I might be buying an hp dv6-7000 refuirbished soon, but it has windows 7 on it and the guy offered installing windows 8 on it for free, but i have few concerns:
- will I have any driver problems?
-will the touchpad gestures work? like the zooming and swyping and such
-is their anything else to be worried about?

Widnows 7 is still a fine OS. You've payed 100+ dollars from the laptop price for a genuine license. Don't you dare install Windows 8 on it. You will loose all original software that came with it (Not to mention your license which costs a lot).
Stay with Windows 7 and have a genuine legal license and run updates. It's better for performance, support, security, and a LOT more other things. You can grab an upgrade Windows 8 package from PCandParts for about 60~ish dollars and upgrade it.
The dv6-7000 has an aluminium finish, which means, sweaty or grimy hands will leave permanent stains on it which won't come off, and will be untouchable when they're running on full load (Because of the heat) I have worked with those laptops before, dv series seem to have lots of hardware issues. But then again, no matter what laptop you buy, it won't last you more than 5 years anyway..

I guess 3 years is fine with me so I'm good.
But didn't the new DV line solve the heat issue?
and I really want windows 8, so I should check a new laptop? can't I like restore windows 7 If I want? the original one I mean.
should I go for an hp G6 instead with genuine even though I'm paying more for a lower quality model?
the specs are pretty much the same

May I ask how much you're paying for the refurb laptop? Saw a guy today selling a brand new HP with i7, 8GB of RAM, 2GB nVidia, and 750GB HDD with genuine Windows 7 for 900$. Forgot the series line, but it was like 1600$ + VAT on PCandParts.

I guess you found someone selling you a G6 and not a dv6, but if it is a dv6 I'm pretty sure it is a refurb, even in USA it costs more brand new.
I am cheking a group on facebook called: "computers, laptops, technology" and they call themselves Technodel.
Nabs
No, it's not refurb. I checked the box. Came from Dubai, apparently, it's overheating and the guy wants to go for a VAIO :P
