you should have stripped the board completely and washed with alcohol and use a toothbrush to scrub everything,and then use a hair dryer without heat to evaporate it all. (You should also de-solder the CMOS battery if it's soldered directly onto the board)
Then you do another round of blowing by focusing on the chips so that there won't be any alcohol left under them. Then you leave it under the sun for an hour or two (Not necessary but recommended). Then put everything back together. Please! oh Please!! follow a guide when taking apart a laptop. There shouldn't be a single screw left over after you finish rebuilding it. PM me the laptop model number and I'll send you a disassembly and reassembly guide to help you out. HP's are really tricky to take apart.
