Hello Lebgeeks,
Anybody knows where I can find a Nexus 10 tablet in Lebanon? I really wonder how come we can find ipads and ipad accessories everywhere but I wasn't able to find Nexus 7 or 10 ?
The Nexus 7 is available in many places. Stars Communications (Amhaz) is selling the 16GB one for around $285. Though it might be available for a bit cheaper from his main branch in Beir el Abed (I haven't checked but that's usually the case for most of the devices).

As for the Nexus 10, as far as I know, it still did not arrive here. In case you do find one, please let me know. I have been waiting for it since the day it was announced.
Nexus 7 is ridiculously overpriced in Lebanon compared to iPads.
At first I was hoping they get the Nexus 10, but seeing how they priced the Nexus 7, I now prefer they don't get it (expect 40% price increase to around 550-600$ for the 16GB version whose base price in USA is 400$).
I totally agree about the price issue. However, it isn't easy to even buy the Nexus 10 in the US. Only few retailers carry it and it's usually out of stock in most places that do carry it like Staples and Walmart. In addition, it seems like they only offer the $500 32GB one in retail stores. To buy it from the Play Store, you need a credit card that is issued from the US with a valid US address that matches the card's address.

I have a feeling that Google are purposely limiting it's availability. The only two reasons that immediately come to my mind is that they are having problems in production or they fear alienating their business partners like Samsung and Asus.

By the way, why do you prefer that they don't get it here? What's the harm in doing so? I already expect that the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 will be overpriced when they arrive here. Honestly, I am willing to pay $550 for the 16GB one. I definitely won't like paying that high but if that's my only option... The thing is you cannot compare its price to the iPads that are being shipped here illegally. We can buy the iPad here for only like $10 more than the price in the US. Even in all of Europe it's more expensive. So it's just that we're lucky that we get good prices for items like that.

Or not really lucky, depends on how you look at it though.

Google isn't in the business of selling devices. They are, and probably always will be, a software company. The Nexus line has always been a showcase of the capabilities of newer versions of Android. The last line (Nexus 4, 7 and 10) seems to be more widespread than its predecessors, but still, I don't think Google wants to make any profits from it.
That's very true rahmu. Google just want to show the hardware manufacturers and developers what Android is capable of. The Nexus line of devices was always targeted for developers. Back in the days of the Nexus S and Nexus One, consumers weren't very interested in these devices. In addition, the earlier Nexus devices were always behind in terms of hardware specs. With the new line of Nexus devices, it seems like Google is looking for something more. Currently the Nexus 4 and 10 have the best hardware in their respective classes.

Consumers are are really excited about the new Nexus devices (maybe not so much for the Nexus 10...). So I think Google are really dropping the ball on this. The demand is clearly outstripping the supply. Some people in the US are still waiting to find a Nexus 4. In the phone space that not might be a big concern for Google since their hardware partners are doing a relatively good job with their own devices. However, when it comes to tablets, Google cannot afford to do a single mistake. They are already behind when compared to the iPad.
I don't think the Nexus 10 is lagging behind the iPad at all. As long as the iPad is still being sold with 1GB RAM (768 MB usable) it is a piece of shit. Don't you dare advance a level above casual user, otherwise you will see how sucky it is, even a "veteran casual" user will get fed up with the RAM (and Apple's pathetic multitasking system) eventually. And yes I am taking it too personal and saying it with extreme prejudice :p as I have lost money and time in this tablet game.

If these do not quality as communications devices (as they don't include a SIM slot), one might be able to ship them and not pay extra fees for clearance (around $120).
So what are the exact clearance rules for tablets like these? You pay a 10% VAT tax? And what else?
