Hey, I'm not sure what's your problem?
The screenshot shows that the installation of the .deb went successfully and started the services.
What does it mean, you "got stuck"? Tell us more.
A very short intro to Unix
If you're new to Unix, here's something that may or may not help you understand what you're going through.
OpenVPN, like many services, runs as a
daemon. If you're used to Windows, you might have heard of Windows Services. That's basically the same thing. It's a process running in the background doing nothing until a particular event occur. In the case of a VPN service, this event is when it receives a connection.
Daemon are very common in Linux and they usually follow the same path:
- You install a binary
- You modify a configuration file (usually called something.conf), usually available somewhere in /etc
- You start/stop/restart/reload the daemon using scripts usually located in /etc/init.d/
OpenVPN should be no different.
You installed it by manually downloading the package, now you need to configure it by modifying the conf file.
There are a few extra steps involved in configuring the network or the authentication method. But that shouldn't be a big deal.
Don't follow a random blog post. Take the time to understand the official documentation. At least you're sure it's 100% reliable.
