Hello,

I am thinking of buying a new LED 32' screen TV, I spent a lot during the holidays so am a bit short on cash. People are telling to buy it now because of the offers on electronics devices during the holidays.

1) Do you recommend buying it now or can I wait till the end of the month for my next pay check?
2) What are the most important specs I should look for in such devices?
3) Do you recommend any particular model (Samsung or SONY)
4) What are the main difference between LCD, LED and PLASMA
5) What is the best store to buy the TV from (Everybody is saying that Khoury home and Tahaan are really expensive)

Thank you I would appreciate specific answers
PS:this is my first post on LebGeeks, I think I respected all the rules. please tell me if I did something wrong.
1) prices on 32" flat screens TV is not that hight to begin with, you can buy one from as slow as 300$ but a good model will set you back 400-500$. there might be some holiday promotions that you need to check them out.

2) make sure the TV supports 1080p, and 120hz refresh rate if you want the best gaming experience, (ps3, xbox360) and watching sports, and it should have at least 2 HDMI ports.

3) Sony, Samsung, LG are the best. I personally prefer Sony.

4) LED TVs are in fact LCD TVs, the only difference that LED TVs uses LED back light, while LCD TVs use CFL back lighting. LED back light is supposed better, providing brighter picture, higher contrast ratio, deeper black levels, all that while being more energy efficient that stand LCD TVs. There are two types of LED TV Edge lit, and full array lit. edge lit have the LEDs around the edge of the screen, while array lit have the led behind the screen. full array is supposed to give the better picture quality, but its thicker and more expansive that edge lit LED TV.
Plasma TVs are completely different concept they use a gas to produce the picture. Plasma TVs usually have the best picture quality and best black level, they are also the cheapest. however they suffer from burn in effect, if you have a static image on the screen (channel logo) it might leave a mark on the screen after a while. Plasma TVs are suited for large screen you will have hard time finding plasma screens bellow 40".

5) you need to look around, Sony World does some good promotions, I believe CTC Samsung does the same.

thank you haidcar for this interesting answer. I was just wondering if you have a particular sony or Samsung model in mind?
I dont have a paticular model, but I would go with samsung these days, they just have better value for money due to being able to low production cost, plus samsung seems to be established pretty well in lebanon.
But ofcourse you should check all avaible offers, and I wouldnt cross out LCDs, the difference isn't that big really, you really need to put them next to each other to really be able to see the difference, while it will be considerably easier on your pocket.
One thing I noticed though when checking tvs at Abed Tahan, they dont tune all displays the same way, I mean they may set one display to full brightness and keep the other at low brightness, I don't know if they do it in purpose, but you should be aware so you can make a good judgement.
I just got the Sony KDL-32EX65 from Dubai for 490$. Hooked it up to my rig and enjoyed some kick ass gaming :D

For this price it was an incredible catch, pretty sure price is much higher here.

You might need to fiddle around with the display settings to fix color/brightness/contrast issues.
