Hello , I am looking for a PSU for gaming purposes of minimum power 800 Watts and has to be from a fairly known brand in the business.
I'm open for [used] parts as well.
If anyone has something close to my demand please PM me .
Thanks
Khaled
Well at least post your system's specs .. so we could tell you if 800W is actually necessairy
And NO, more power than needed isnt always a good idea, so post your specs first

As Khaled said, please post your specs. Maybe your old PSU was a crappy Chinese one from today's market.

I already done the calculations and my new rig demands around 520 W 90 % load (No OC) and I'm aiming to OC in a while so calculating most decent PSU's deliver 80 %'ish . 800W will be adequate for me.
If anyone know a good deal in the market that might be useful to my demand please do tell. Also if anyone is selling a Corsair/Antec/XFX (or any brand of this caliber) PSU, I would be interested in buying.
Thank you

If by 80% you mean the PSU efficiency rating, then no, that represents how much of the drawn AC poweris cconverted to DC for use in your system. This means that an 80% efficiency PSU @ 800W is rated for a max sustained power delivery of 800W where 80% of the drawn AC power, which is higher than 800W, gets converted to 800W of DC power.
If by 80% you mean the load that represents a good balance between power output and lifespan for the power supply, meaning 80% of the max sustained power draw is what you're aiming for your system to draw, then that is a maximum figure I would advise for, the sweeter spot being 70% (given that several PSU manufacturers rate their PSU MTBFs @ 70% load 25C / 50C.)
Please post your specs, however. We may be helpful with that.

Okay there is my spec , gime your opinion.
Processor: Intel I5 3570k
Cooler: Thermaltake SpinQ.
Board: Asus z77 v-lk
Ram:Corsair Dominator GT 8GB (4x2GB) 2000MHz
Case: Cooler Master HAF X (942) With extra 200 mm LED fan
Graphics: SLI 2x EVGA GTX 460 1gb (720MHz stock gpu clock)
Storage: 2xkingston Hyper x 3k 128 GB (SSD)
2x 320GB SATA II drives
+1 PCIe Cisco Wireless Nework card.
I haven't booted the pc yet . I'm waiting to figure out how to handle the power.
I currently have Thermaltake TR2 RX-550PP (550W) and Thermaltake Toughpower Power Express 450 W laying around in great condition. I was thinking of using both Psu's ,one will handle the graphic cards and the other the rest of the stuff .

I don't advise the use of dual PSUs in a build, its beyond the concept of "sharing power" its more complex than that.
Based on the specs however, i would say you need a 700W PSU, lets say 800W for a good headroom and since you like 800 apparently.
Problem is that the availability here isn't the best. And i would personally advise you to shy away from thermal-take PSUs ( just a personal preference ). That being said, I cannot provide you with a good source to get your items since I wish I knew one for myself.
I want however to warn you about the cooler since it isn't exactly the best of coolers, be careful when overclocking that 3570k.

Whao there!
Don't even THINK about using 2 PSUs at once. You will have nothing but problems.
That's a very nice system, You might have it booted up with that 550W PSU but with just 1 graphics card.
Your PC would run fine on 750W too FYI. But I guess having headroom will make it more reliable and last more.
I would recommend the Thermaltake TPG-850M ToughPower Grand 850W, because it's 80Plus Gold, one of the best Thermaltake PSUs and costs just $50 more than the others at PCandParts. I would definitely get that.

You can close this thread. I no longer need to buy a PSU.
Thanks
