Hey guys,

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all.

I've been browsing lately the forum, and noticed that most of the people here have the same problem with their online gaming experience. (NAT Type)

I did my own little research before getting back to LebGeeks but couldn't find the answer I was searching for.

I currently have Ogero as an ISP using their Thomson TG585v7 router. I also have in my room a D-Link DIR 300 which I'm using as a access point since the router signal is very weak in my room.

My PS3 is wirelessly linked to the D-Link router.

I'm currently getting a NAT Type 3 on my PS3, therefore I decided to put its IP (PS3) on a demilitarized zone (DMZ).

My question was, to which router must I assign this, and I'm having a bit of a hard time to do it. Your help would me more than welcome.

Cheers,
Cyril
I thought I'd add a bit of screen shots that might be helpful.

#1 - PS3's IP not appearing on main router since I'm linked to the access point.

#2 - If I want to choose a device to enter DMZ mode, my PS3 isn't available on the screen of devices.
(might be due to the fact that I'm linked to the access point?!)

#3 - Tried to do the same on my D-Link router, but couldn't find any device to choose from.

Cheers,
Hi man,
I am not an expert but I had the same problem than yours: the Nat type plus I couldn't play with my other lebanese friends plus it took a little bit of time to find Fifa matches or Uncharted games for example. So I discovered the DMZ method online and I am sharing you my little knowledge.
First, I have WISE and an old modem with not even a brand name but not bad in port things so I will tell you what I did to DMZ my PS3.

So ------->>> To DMZ your PS3, you must go to the NAT section of your modem (I advise you the D-Link one) and you choose an ip address to assign it as a DMZ host for example my default gateway ip is 192.168.16.1 so I chose the DMZ one 192.168.16.34

So, even if you can't find your PS3, assign a DMZ host then after doing it reboot your modem.
After it, configure your PS3 (custom setting not easy) by giving it the IP you put as a DMZ host. (I hope you know how to do it on your PS3 and you can see on Google nothing hard)

Turn off PS3 and turn on.

I hope it helped.
@Truepeace - thanks for your reply, but I've already tried this and I'm still getting a Type 3 NAT Type.

I'm not quiet sure if I should be doing this steps on my access point (D-Link) or on my actual modem (Thomson).
forwarding ports and dmz should be done on the router that holds your public ip address in this case the thompson. Its very easy assign a static ip to your ps3 and the gateway should be the ip of the thompson and then put the ip of the ps3 in dmz on the thompson

Hey, thanks for the reply.

If you take a look at the below pic:

I can't add an IP, I'm obliged to add an device, and I can't seem to see my PS3.

Any idea why?
well in this case try to forward the ports that the ps3 and games use

edit: i don't own this crappy router so i don't know why, maybe it doesn't detect a ps3 on the network or maybe this table is just a dhcp table ,btw what is this unknown mac address are you sure this isn't your ps3??
Your Thomson is already detecting your PS3, it is the Unknown-e4-b0-21-3f-ec-67. That's your PS3's MAC address, select this one to assign it to the DMZ.
I have the same problem. But the solution requires multiple steps: Most importantly, you must assign a static IP to your PS3. You see, the router assigns various IPs to the connected devices each time you turn the devices ON. So you must choose an IP, set it to become static through a program downloaded from"portforward.com"... It's a long process, here's the most detailed and accurate link:

This is not my PS3's MAC address.
I've already assigned an IP for my PS, but the MAC address you are referring to is for another device.

Will be giving this another try tonight although I think I've did almost the same steps.

Thanks for the help :)
hi I m sorry to tell you that you are on one of the worst routers (thomson)
I had the same problem:
-1rst DMZ doesnt work with this router because when you assign a static ip to your Ps3 you wont find it in the scroll of public ip in thomson.
-2nd Port forward also doesn't work don't know why.

Advice: do what I did BOUGHT A NEW ROUTER.
As a conclusion dont spend your time trying to fix your problem on thomson because its worthless Just buy a new router such as tp-link

I've been thinking of changing towards another brand for stability issues.
This just pushed my choice even more.

Any specific routers to recommend?
If so what are the price range?

Thanks,
The TP-LINK is being sold a lot. WISE suggested me TP-LINK and they told me that if I have a problem they could fix it automatically on it.
For the price, if you search well, you could find a good TP-LINK costing not more than 60 $. On amazon it is from 20 to 60 $ so don't accept more even if they told you "this is the "best" or the "newest" bil souk".
Plus get rid of your multiple modems, my friend got a TP-LINK with an extender for 60$
