  • Looking for a way to know if a mobile phone is new or used

Hello everyone,

Is there a way I can know wether a cellphone is new or it has been used and refurbished? Because looks like cellphone shops are doing so.

A friend of mine bought a new cellphone and he found out that it is rooted!! (S2)
Androids are usually hard to track! I faced this issue too! Because everything can be wiped! All usage statistics can be wiped!
In the old days, windows mobile, like HTC HD2 had an internal counter that gives you how many minutes it has been used (received calls and made calls) and that couldn't be wiped! That was nice!
On android, you can check if it's an original ROMor not (in the about phone/status) or if it's rooted or not by installing a software that requires root to work!
Sadly, usually, you don't have the opportunity to do so in a cell shop!
Besides, unfortunately, it can be used for decades and returned to original stock status and you would never know!!!

Avtnav: I checked the link and it tells you how to distinguish between a new device and a refurbished device (factory), so its not good in our case here in Lebanon.
