  • birthday gift ideas for my girlfriend, ideas please.

well my girlfriend's borthday is in january 2, and I still havent figured out what to buy, here's what you should know:
1) budget : between 100 and 150$
2) I have a backup plan : jewelery
3) I already proposed few stuff and those were rejected: external HDD, quality headphones, watch, perfume.

any ideas?
jewelery equals things are somehow seriouse, like when you want to engage or something, i guess.
so i would stay away from those, perfum sounds ok. Get this with it Lindt
perfume is a no no, i mentioned it and she said she doesnt want one, however a box of lindt with the gift is a good idea ;)
rolf, really -.-
Kindle.

I offered one to my gf last christmas it was a hit.

available in lebanon?
A box of good Swiss chocolate is good, she'd be having brain orgasms in no time.
Nexus 7 > Kindle

A bit off topic: Raghunter is actually an awesome idea that I was waiting for to be done because I hate going and looking for clothes. BUT the featured shops they have are extremely high priced which makes it only viable for rich people. I mean who in the right mind buys a t shirt for 90$ :S

Continuing on the off topic, it's great that they don't paginate their front page, instead it loads, fairly quickly, the rest of the page as you scroll down. Ad infinitum. It's a super idea, I hate pagination.

But then they add the "About" links and others at the bottom, making them impossible to reach... :-/
Do people even have usability testing on their websites anymore?

Apparently when you have slow internet connection, you will have a lot of time to click on the footer before the content is actually loaded!
Yeah its epic having a footer while the content keeps updating, its like a test for your mouse ability to click quick enough, i guess they just want people who have quick eye and hand coordination to see the about us and contact us pages.
How old is your girlfriend?
Does she work and if so, what does she do?
you want something to last for a long time or just a few day/months
How about a Kathy Van Zeeland handbag? We girls can't have enough handbags :P If you're worried about her taste, let her tag along and choose one herself
I can't disclose what I got, because the person actually reads the forum from time to time :-)

The way I go about is to start by defining the category of what I want to get. Is it something sentimental and DIY? (e.g., make a stencil out of a photo, use acrylic paint to transfer it on a canvas) or something they will use daily? (e.g., ebook reader)

This pattern is called infinite scroll, popularized by sites like lookbook and twitter. Unfortunately, the raghunter developer lazied out on his accessibility duties. The URL should get dynamically updated (using something like the History API from HTML5) as you scroll down so as to reflect the page number. That way, you could link someone to page 15 without having him scroll down for a couples of minutes.
thanks everybody for your replies :D :
she will turn to 23 years old, she is a last year student in interiour architecture, and she prefers gifts that last.
Raghunter seemed overpriced for the stuff
offered.
Kathy van zeeland handbags seems to be a possible idea, I'll check with her about it.
Samer you can alwayd PM me ;) help a brother out.
May I ask why are you seeking for her approval for a something you're gonna buy her?

Use your own judgement and buy whatever YOU feel is appropriate. Worst that will happen is she won't like it and return it unless she's too scared to hurt your feelings (and it appears you have that same fear)... and that's either a sign you're too new in the relationship - in that case a box of chocolate would be pretty much all you need to buy - or that you're overreacting a bit :)

Then again the only thing I can tell you is like rtp said, stay away from jewelry unless you are going serious.
No no man, you got it all wrong, we've been together for more then 2 years now, and actually planning for an engagement this summer, still no official talk though.
I am not seeking her approval because of fear of messing things up or so, but I want to get her something she will like and enjoy, this will take the element of surprise away but I am not really into birthday surprises in the first place, I beleive that getting exactly what she wants is better then a surprise.
Then why not ask her instead of random people from the internet?
i did, i mentioned it already, jewelery is the backup plan, that what we agreed on, but other than that she actually doesnt know what she wants, so I'm looking for more ideas.
