Herbalist Hello LebGeeks yesterday my laptop fell on the floor from my table.. whenever i try to turn it on it says no os to boot from i replaced the hdd with one of my externals and installed windows but when i put the old hard disk (the one that was in the laptop) in a sata box and connect to the laptop through usb it just makes the beep sound the one it does normally when you connect a hard disk but the drives dont appear and you notice that the hard disk just makes a couple of short spins then it stops is there a way to recover the data i have more than 250 GB of music and tons of other stuff what do suggest ? Is there any reliable place in beirut that could help in recovering the data
yasamoka Please search around. There exists a similar topic about HDD data recovery. You will find a collection of information that we already know and part of which we have forgotten.
AvoK95 If you have another PC, connect the HDD to it (Yes you can connect it to a desktop just fine) Download Hiren's Boot CD and run Mini Windows XP from it, and try as much as you can to copy the files to another storage device.
ironman If you couldn't recover your data, i know a company that can recover all your files, (they recovered for me a 1TB drive which had damaged sectors), but they take a decent amount of money, so its related to how much the data means to you. Good luck
