  • Interesting Development Companies in Lebanon

Hello I was wondering today whether interesting web, mobile, software development companies in Lebanon exist, of course there are some but there could be many that I don't know about and maybe others don't. The way I evaluate whether their work is interesting is on the following criteria in order from the most important to the least:

- Nature of projects: Research and development, product development, fresh and innovative ideas, apps that have potential to make a difference at some point in time. Games, embedded, web, software, mobile can all apply here as long their ideas are of their own and the company itself owns them and works on enhancing the product.

In contrast to: Web shops with cliche classic popular services where there are clients who want a website, Facebook app etc... Or even any type of services oriented companies with too many clients. Which somehow makes someone feel he's in a factory.

- Technologies and platform(s): Those that use any modern platform are fine. Extra points would go to those that are into Python, Ruby, JVM Languages(JRuby, Jython, Scala, Rhino, etc...), NodeJS.

So do you know of any such companies? If you think your company is interesting and falls into this category, do share it! A small description about the nature of the projects and technologies used would be nice and helpful.

Maybe we can end up with a nice list that could be later published on the wiki?

All I can say is: good luck finding companies using decent frameworks (rails, django etc.) or modern technologies like node.

That being said, I know of:
Monaqasat is using ruby and rails. The CTO Constantine Nicolaou is pretty good at ruby I am told.
CloudAppers uses php but I know that they use python and flask in some of their experiments.

Disclaimer, i'm the CTO of Baytbaytak . We are building the website solely using nodejs (expressjs of course) socket.io, and backbone on the frontend. But we're still in our early stage as a startup, so success is not guaranteed!
