Hi,
I am searching for work from home I am a programmer and I need to work from home how can I do that I searched for some freelancing websites and I found some such as: freelancing.com .. but I am not getting any offer to complete some projects how can I work from home in another way?
thanks.
Nabs
I work from home. The thing is, you'll need to have a number of regular clients before you could reach that phase. Once you've gotten to that point, your phone never stops ringing.
abd
how did you start programming from home? how can I collect or gain some clients? did you start working in a company first or..?
Nabs
I'm not a programmer. I fix computers, build websites, make games on certain engines, and video-edit. Essentially, I'm a computer technician. But you know, if you plan to provide for your family, you need more than one job here, unless your job pays a fortune.
I began with offering my repair services to one of those illegal cable ISPs. I charged very little at start, allowing them to make profits themselves. Then I moved on to making flyers and handing them in to potential clients. I made support contracts with acceptable fees and terms with some schools and copy centers. The copy centers alone were satisfied with my services and the fact that I didn't always charge them because some things were really silly to handle, so they started to promote me themselves. Word of mouth, moved on...
But this is me. You, as a programmer, can move on in similar steps. However, you need to know who to contact and what terms and conditions to lay. If you like, we could do a collaborative work together, come up with a handy piece of software to promote. How about that? Also, what kind of programming are you mostly into?

I know C#, ASp.net I build websites with asp.net and I can make desktop apps with visual studio, I know java, javascript I know how to develop a game with unity 3D, I know android, PHP, HTML, MYSQL, SQL, Oracle and can learn new stuff by myself, that's what I need I need to develop a software with a new idea.. plus I am a new graduated programmer so I don't have many years of experience but I am trying to work from home cz I don't want to work in a company..

First thing you need to develop a portfolio. And not just websites, you need to be able to show your code to someone. Do you have a github account?
Note this is valid even if you don't work from home.
abd
hi,
actually I've heard about the portfolio thing but I've never written one so could you give me an example of it cz I seached google and did not find a good one, I've found this one :
http://kevin-portfolio.brightmix.com/painter/painter.php but I don't know if I should write a portfolio that looks the same or?!! please tell me what code should I add in my portfolio for example should I add the code of the whole app?!! that would be huge..
thanks.
Nabs
A portfolio is simply a collection of some of your past work, a sample to show new potential clients.
abd
thank you nabs and should I include some code in it?
Nabs
Seeing that you work with programming, your portfolio should be digital. A small website should do the trick. Doesn't have to be a .com, just something with elegant presentation and demos. No, don't put your code, that's for you and for you alone. Put the final products, snapshots and maybe videos in action.
abd
thank you so much.
Nabs
I'm not sure I helped, but you're welcome. Hehehe...

Check out odesk.com and elance.com
You will have to post a portfolio and probably start with an acceptable rate until you build some feedback and prove that you are worth more.
I am currently hiring for part time Senior Ruby on Rails developer for my ongoing project and haven't found any Leb based programmers (with advanced RoR knowledge) to work with yet so I had to go with programmers from Pakistan and Vietnam.
abd
nice, thanks.

You can talk about your code.
