Ok so I have IDM 1MB/s plan 10GB. And I have a huge problem. I have been an xbox live player for the past 4-5 years, and most of the games I play online tells me that I have NAT that is strict or moderate.
Every once and a while I try everything suggested to open the corresponding ports so my NAT would be open. It wasnt that much of a problem though, I would wait 5 minutes instead of 3. Ive been coping with that.

But yesterday, I tried playing FIFA, and couldnt find not even one game. Tried searching for 1:30hours and no result.

I gave up so I went to play DotA2. And for the first time, dota wouldnt connect me to a game. Ive been playing dota for the past 2 month and never had a problem. Again tried to adjust the settings of both my router and my modem, and still nothing.

As a final attempt, i tried reseting both my router and modem to factory settings. Even after this, dota wouldnt connect me to a game.

Is it me or is it from IDM? should I contact them?
Any suggestions?

NB: tried to put DMZ, to turn off firewall, to open the ports recomended in the xbox forums, to enable Plugnplay etc...
Now cant play Fifa13 and Dota 2!!!!
for no reason.

And one more thing, this happened when my internet consumption is finished and I recharged yesterday.

Please help!!!
I am on the PS3 and i am having a NAT issue too. They recently assigned a real IP for me in order to connect to Sony Entertainment Network [SEN] and i could get open NAT if i opened the right ports on my modem. The problem started two days ago, the NAT is either strict or it tells me NAT failed. I think that you or we should contact them because AGAIN we're having another annoying problem.
Yes! 2 days ago!!! I was playing perfect dota Saturday. Suddenly. Bam.
Again it is from IDM's end. Three days ago, my account was expired and the NAT switched from open to strict after i recharged. So i opened the SEN ports on the modem and i got an open NAT again. However i am currently having a strict NAT which is considered as NAT type 3 on the PS3 or even a failed NAT status. I am still able to sign in and play, thanks to the real IP address but i can't play with anyone due to the strict NAT

Even with the ports being opened, putting the PS3 on DMZ, bridge connection, disabling and enabling the UPnP, nothing solved the issue.
Hi H.S. I see that you have NAT Type failed, not even 3.
There's a new update for PS3. Try to download it using your PC or laptop and install it with a USB on the PS3.
All you need is here.

Does this fix it for you to at least show any NAT Type other than "Failed"? I hope so.
Hi Trauma,

I already have the latest firmware version: 4.31 and i followed the steps exactly from the following email that i got from the IDM support:
Dear sir,

In order to solve all PS3 issue you must follow those step (tested):
- First we need to assign a real pool to user
- Second on PS3 ip must be configured manually (not via DHCP)
o All detail about this step can be found in this link (http://portforward.com/networking/staticip-ps3-playstation-3.htm)
- Third on modem we need to perform some change as below:
o Disable UPNP for most of games
o Enable game and application sharing on modem than adding port /range of port mentioned in the below link
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm Your modem can be found under “Thomson-Alcatel”
o Example the model of Thomson used by IDM is alcatel Thomson TG585v8
However i have a different modem/router but i know exactly how to open the SEN ports in it's gateway. I also tried the old Thomson modem, same results, it is not always giving me NAT failed, it is either failed or NAT type 3 which is strict.

PS: i used to get NAT type 1/2 three days ago.
After not using PS3 for a while, I checked it out yesterday and I was bewildered to read either NAT Type 3 either NAT Type Failed after that it was normal for some time.

I'll call them too.
Dota 2 worked yesterday. I think nat is type 2 now.
H.S. how about you? Still having problems?
I am still getting NAT type 3, yesterday i couldn't play Resident Evil 6 with a friend i've been playing with for a while, we just couldn't connect. I'll see if i can play with him today. IDM's NAT has been messed up since the merger with Cyberia.
The same here it's still Nat type 3 on the PS3. it seems they're working on it because at least no NAT Failed today.

I couldn't tell them this but I think they should talk with Sony regarding this.
I am getting NAT type 3 on the Thomson modem and NAT type 2 on the Linksys one. I can't get NAT type 1 like i used to five days ago over a bridge connection.

@Trauma, what is your modem's brand? if you're a heavy PS3 user and you have the Thomson modem, i highly recommend changing your modem. Also you can currently get NAT type 2 if you make a bridge connection but you can only connect one device at a time.

Hi H.S. I have Thomson modem. Regarding the NAT type simple test it's really weird what you had, since results should be the same using any of these 2 modems as they both can handle NAT, unless each modem is configured differently.

As you know, Thomson modem is a modem-router combo.

About the bridge connection it will simply remove the router functions on the modem to get us NAT Type 1, so no port forwarding is needed.
But for the current NAT type 3 problem, you say that we can get NAT type 2 with a bridge connection, did you test it? I don't think it will work since I currently get NAT type 3 with my current PPPoE while I should be getting 2 in order for it to work. In other words if I already got type 2 the bridge connection would work to get us type 1 just if we had type 2 but I might be wrong if it will work or not for our case so I will test it to confirm.
I will currently try a temporarily bridge connection test just on the PS3 and I will reply back, hoping i get type 2 as you mentioned.

Meanwhile i found a good description regarding types here:
NAT Type 1
You are either NOT behind a router/firewall OR you have already DMZ enabled your PS3. Your PS3 is connected properly and you shouldn't run into any issues.

NAT Type 2
Your PS3 is connected to a router. Your PS3 is connected properly and you shouldn't run into any issues.

NAT Type 3
You are behind a router/firewall. While your PS3 may be able to connect to the PSN and perform downloads/updates other functions may not work as intended.
@Trauma, I've been on NAT type 3 for more than two years on the Thomson modem unless i make a bridge connection, it should give NAT 1, but it depends on the ISP's security too. I always used to make a bridge connection to get NAT 2 on the Thomson and i rarely got NAT 2 over PPPoE until i changed the modem. I have other SEN friends who couldn't get NAT 2 unless they changed their old modems.

I tested the connection on both modems today. I got NAT 2 over PPPoE on the Linksys X3000 which is also a router/modem combined, NAT 3 over PPPoE on the Thomson, however when i made a bridge connection for the Thomson, i got NAT 2.

When you make a bridge connection, you don't have to open ports, but as i said you can only connect one device at a time, when you connect over PPPoE, you have to open the ports, but you should have a real IP address for them to work.
Hi H.S. I just tested a bridge connection at the PS3 and I was wrong as I really get type 2 instead of 3 with the bridge connection. The reason why I doubted it would get me type 2 because I always tried a bridge connection a long time ago and I never got type 2 till now when I tried the same steps now and I get type 2.

- The question now is:
you got NAT 2 over PPPoE on the Linksys X3000.
I don't have a Linksys, can you please test the Linksys modem over a bridge connection this time and report back the NAT type?
Theorically speaking it should be 1.

Anyway for thomson, what we should be getting is NAT type 2 without a bridged connection as we used to get a few days ago you and I on the Thomson.
It is also giving NAT 2 over bridge connection on the Linksys. The NAT heavily relies on the ISP, like when the problem started five days ago, i got NAT 3/failed on the Linksys over both PPPoE and bridge. Still the moden/router can help, from my experience with the Thomson, i saw that it is not much NAT friendly with the SEN even though it supports NAT. Another proof, i have friends from other countries [K.S.A/U.A.E/U.K] who were stuck with NAT 3 using the Thomson and they couldn't get open NAT until they changed it.

I am not saying that it is 100% from the modem/router, i had NAT 2 over PPPoE on the Thomson before the problem started, so it is from IDM's end, but most of the times, i got NAT 3 on the Thomson, NAT 2 on the Linksys.
