This statement is wrong in so many ways. Where did you get that from?
I'm not sure about the definition of consultant in Lebanon, but everywhere else it's probably the best position to have on your CV. Not too technical, not too business oriented, it's really the best of both worlds
Badieh is absolutely right. Well the duration of experience differs according to the type of work. Successful consultants have hands-on experience. They develop the sense of noticing and wondering during the time of actual work. Only then they can recommend others what works and what doesn't. A consultant can change the way how things flow in a business; meaning a not-so-experienced consultant can bring a company to its knees. It is a very fragile and risky business.
I'm not saying a fresh grad will get a consultant job by getting all A's on his grades.
Consultant needs to know the business needs and the technical perspective of things whatever the consultancy domain is. You can get that in 3, 4 or even 5 years is more than enough provided you have the adequate environment in your company to grow into that position.
No you do not need 7 years, but you can't get the job after a year's work either.
