I have a movie that I want to upload on my webpage;
I edited the movie (initially 1.2 GB) on “IMovie” and exported it as .m4v (using Export size: mobile 480 x 360);
I then converted it to .flv.
The problem is that the weight is too high to be uploaded on the web (200 MB).
My first question is: is there a way to compress the video without losing too much of its quality?
On another hand, I opened the flv movie with Flash CS5, added the video’s skin of the play controls and generated the swf file, which was a lot lighter: 61 kb.
But even though I was putting the movie swf file and the play controler’s swf file together in one folder, the movie preview when launched plays automatically without the play and stop buttons.
Is there a way to have both the movie and the skin play and stop button together on the swf movie?

Size should not be an issue to upload a file to the web. Petabytes are transferred daily.
Maybe you could tell us a bit more about how you're uploading your file?
If you're going through an "application" (like Youtube for instance) chances are you will be limited. But if you have full control over your webpage, this is a non-issue.

Thank you Rahmu for your quick response; as a matter of fact, I am not using an application to upload my files, but a web based FTP client and I have control over my web page.
So if I understand correctly, I could upload easily a ftv movie of 200 MB (embedded in Dreamweaver), but wouldn’t that affect the browser’s loading for the viewer?
Joe
Oh now I understand what you mean.
Technically yes, it would affect the viewer, although you can highly minimize the impact if your FLV player has solid streaming abilities.
That being said you are right to strive to minimize the size of your content. I am afraid I cannot provide further help with your specific issue because I'm not familiar with the technologies you're using (Flash, iMovie, CS5, Dreamweaver, ...)
