You should double check dictation. I saw some "your" where it should have been "you're" and also, you should also link the titles ti Wikipedia for a more briefly explanation.

You should start working on a GPU OC guide. you seem to explain stuff quite easily or should I say "idiot proof".

I might do that when I get the motivation.

C2D E4600 2.4GHz ? check it using CPUID, if it's a M0 core then you can OC to 3.2GHz without any voltage increase with intel's stock cooler , i did that before and get it to 3.63GHz max "with a bigger cooler and more vcore" !

if it is M0 E4xxx then:

1. make sure your motherboard support the 1066 FSB
2. make sure you have a good PSU quality
3. rise your FSB from 200 to 266 from the BIOS
4. set memory divider in BIOS to 3/2 if you have 800MHz RAM, 5/4 if you have 667MHz RAM
5. prime it and keep your eyes on the temps, M0's max safe temp is 73.3c
6. if it runs hotter, get a bigger HSF or decrease your FSB to 250 for 3GHz

if your motherboard doesn't support OC'ing then it requires hardware modding to OC it to 3.2GH

edit: got my ivy bridge a while back and i have to say intel has taken out the fun of overclocking, its so easy now a 5 year old can do it, thus i will not be sharing any overclocking experience with it, just raise the multiplier and you're done.

Anyway, Bitcoin mining is faster if you overclock ;)

This particular motherboard is bad at overclocking. My friend had one or two boards burn the CPU when OCed.

Bitcoin mining might be faster when you overclock, but only when you overclock without any voltage increases, due to MHashes / Watt concerns. Bitcoin miners often undervolt their cards and keep at the stock or also underclock them to get to a sweet MHashes / Watt ratio and have enough GHashes / s produced so that they can break even then eventually profit.

A modest overclock is a free overclock. Why are we talking about laptops here?

This is a really good guide but shouldn't it be mentioned the overclocking any type of hardware generally reduces the lifespan of the piece, especially when introducting raising the volatage? I understand that most people buy new computers before the hardware has enough time to die, but for a person that's looking to keep their CPU, for example, for 8 or 10 years, overclocking their CPU can decrease its lifespan to 3 or 4 years.
