I saw this one sitting in Virgin Megastore, I think it was around 100$ if not more (can't remember though Amazon has it for $60)

what do you guys think? it seems interesting for watching movies anywhere
We have one of those at the place I work, they are horrible in terms of specs. They can't play any videos. We sell them specifically to people who want to buy them for their kids.
hahahahaha! thank God you said so, I was about to get one myself. so are you sure they can't play video? that sucks
Those are good, for playing videos but you need a monitor a mouse and a keyboard.
That an extra 100$.
My opinion save up 280$ and buy a decent emachines netbook, I have had mine for two years now, it is awesome.
Just get an Raspberry Pi and install android on it for like 50 bucks . and its the size of a credit card.
I thought Raspberry Pi were hard to find in Leb, right? anyhow that sounds like an interesting option.

@Nuclearvision, I already have those (I was thinking of using the tv) so no worries on that extra cost. but it does worry me that they will not be able to play really heavy files well (bluray videos)

EDIT: do Raspberry Pi have wifi capabilities or you have to buy a separate module?
It has USB , and if you install the right OS you could probs use a dongle , best option is to Google it. But you can order an RP from eBay for 65-77$ with shipping included. And it can deff run decent movie files .

It does sound like an attractive option, though Im trying to steer clear from those of solutions. I'm a medium user with minimal knowledge with programming and I've grown tired of modding my cellphone and having to change softwares, same with my laptop video card and anything that can be changed. This time I'm aiming for being the general customer who does not add anything just like if you were buying a DVD player for your tv. No modding no extra hardware, just plug in and play :D

You can't just install android.
It has a small list of debian based OS
For media playback the best one i have seen is raspbmc

I have used them personally and they do not play videos well. There are a lot of hardware limitation, especially concerning how crappy they are.

@babum, Why not just get a cheap netbook ? They cost as much, They have awesome specs and they can run any OS you want. Including Android !
a cheap laptop does not cost 100$ guys, Im almost sure. The thing is that I do have a laptop but I found this device interesting
What about an apple tv, it is 150dollars almost, it can handle 1080p videos, but you should jailbreak it.

sounds interesting too. I'm going to check it out
but you have to get the appletv2 (720p only), because the appletv3 (1080p) is unjailbreakable at the moment and expected to take a few more months to get jailbroken.
thanks for the tip, though I don't think I would get it either way. it's great for apple users but I'm the farthest person away from apple, not much of a benefit for me to buy it.
You're right, Apple Tv is not about mirroring your iPad, iPhone.
It has its own software, you can hook it up with your HDTV and watch movies from it play songs, it has an integrated player
