First i really appologize if i am creating a forum that us a duplicate.. i couldn't find any help posting on any related forums so please admin if you can redirect me i wouldn't have a problem at all.

Im writing this post in search of a solution for my thomson router who has been acting strange. After every Electricity Cut i have to Log in and connect to the internet Manually. this problem wasn't occuring before...and after i contacted my ISP who are sodetel all they could tell me was to install a UPS.

weird enough, a week later problem stopped occuring even after power cuts the router automatically connected. but then again after a while the same problem was back.

iv tried researching this with no results. anyone facing the same issue? any idea if its a software/technical problem? or the router is just defected and needs to be replaced?

any router software update can help ? if so how can i do that?

Thank you in advance for all the help geeks.
How long have you had the router ?
Perhaps it's time to change it ?
its been 3 years maybe or even less.

Thomson Gateway

Product Name: TG585 v7

Software Release: 7.4.4.7
My neighbor's Thomson also has that problem. The problem goes away eventually.
However I would reset my modem in order to solve any other problems it might have.
Use this guide I've made to help you.

Also as DG said, it might need replacing. Thomson's tend to run for no more than 5 years tops.

BTW, any topics related to routers/modems/internet or networking stuff goes to the Internet and Networking section of the forum.
i was hoping more for a solution.. what do you mean eventually goes away? is this some kind of a router flu or smth :P?

how can i save my settings so i can reset to factory default and then insert them back?i can't remember my user and password.
My suggestion, change your password, change your encryption method to wpa2-psk with aes not tkip.
I think someone is messing with your router.

I guess it is some sort of flu, if you put it that way, there are all kinds of weird things in networking.

Your username should be written here (Insert the username password of your modem (Most probably, Username : admin Password : admin OR Username : user Password : user))

Your password is the last 2 letters of your username 3 times, for example if your username is L123456, then your password should be 565656.
You could always call their Technical Hotline 1278 to get your username and password if it's something else.

Here's the tutorial of configuring your modem .

Good Luck !

Well the only solution I guess is to do a firmware upgrade for your router if the problem persists then your router is toasted with compliments of EDL.

Actually problem is SOLVED.. simply by resetting router to default settings and reconfiguring it all the way from the start.

even sodetel did not agree that it was a solution and said we only recommend installing a UPS...well...a simple reset was the answer i was looking for all the way from the start Dear sodetel.
for future reference, you don't need a whole resetting with configuration

just choose the "restart" option instead and voila it should be fine then on.

ٍI assumed that you've tried at least the restart & reset solutions before asking for help....
