We've recently got a new Xbox console, and its voice really drives me crazy; it's too loud - and it heats up quiet too much as well. Is that normal?
Try to install the game you are playing, so the DVD Drive wont spin and noise will get lower by 70%
It is normal. Xbox consoles are known to sound like jet engines :P. However, I believe I read that the newer "S" models with new DVD drives are much quieter. Do you have one of the newer "S" models (the one on the right in the image below)?

I did not really know I could install a game into the console :) I rarely use the Xbox actually, so I really do not know much about it. Thanks for the tip, will look up some tutorials.

Yeah actually I have the one on the right. So there's even a louder model of this thing?!
Unfortunately, yes. Sometimes it kills the mood so I just raise the volume high enough to drown the noise.

Installing the game to your hard disk should definitely solve the noise issue. Though I have never tried it since I have the relatively small 20GB disk. It's pretty simple to install the game, the option should be available on the main hub. If you want more details check this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960173
As Abou7meed said, you should install the game inside your hard drive to make the DVDROM read less content from the disc. Also DVD9 discs make more noise then DVD5 (Normal DVD) discs, Especially if they are one of those Syrian or Malaysian copies that look like genuine discs.
Fans can make noise aswell, your console might have some dust inside, make sure you clean it by blowing air in it, also try to keep it as cool as possible so that the fans run on low RPM, thus making less noise.
Also, the slim model has just as much noise as the normal model. A smaller DVD ROM means more noise because there will be more vibration in the drive.

So to keep your console silent, you have to :
1- Use Verbatim copied games and install them in your HDD
2- Keep your console cool so that the fans run on low RPM.
Rest assured it's normal

I have the original Elite version and god literally it's comparable to listening to the water motor we have when i play game not installed to the HDD

However the sound is "healthy" - as for heat it's summer not surprised, it WILL die down during winter (fans spin much slower)

Other than that installing games to the HDD will kill most of the sound (if present of course)
I have the xbox Arcarde and it doesn't make that much sound xD

Not completely off topic and related to ALL the xbox owner!

1. Connect console to internet

2. It will connect to XBL and update your console

3. Go to your offline profile, there should be a clear option to select xbox live

4. Here it will prompt you to make your online Gamertag

5. You must use a Windows Live/Hotmail email adress that ISN'T set to Lebanon (or it will say XBL is not avaialble in your region) - two "cures" to this, either change it online or just make a new one and set it to anywhere from the US/UK

6. During the process it may ask for billing details, you must fill these out (just the post code at least) you can put "sajajaskhakhajkhajha" in all the other boxes (google is your friend here for the post code any will do)

7. Bit of patience and voila !

8. Buy the XBL Membership for the respective account region (if you chose US then US it is, or anything European than European it is)

9. Redeem this code via the xbox live market place, and you have Gold and may play online :)

I've used XBL for around 6 months in Lebanon, using Lebanese ISP's - no problems whatsoever - don't expect Netflix and all the Us/UK exclusive stuff to work however (you can via a VPN but that's just too much of a hassle)

Best of luck to you.
Thanks a lot!
Another question (probably the last one) what is the difference between US or europe? I mean does it affect the lag? (ISP: IDM)
And also we have multiple account on the xbox, me and my bro want to play on our respective account! Should I get a normal Gold membership or a family membership?

Some games use local matchmaking, meaning if you set it to the US, then it will match with US players i.e. lag. I advise the EU, better connection, you may see something missing from the dashboard (netflix) and some stuff but like i said those will be disabled anyway.

Gold membership is per account - i.e multiple users should buy multiple subscriptions. Of course if these family memberships exist buy them ! - i wasn't around the time they started this but im guessing you get a discount when you buy this.

I know it's kind of annoying thing, but hey that's microsoft for you.
