Hello Everyone
I am facing a slight problem trying to recover data of a 1Tb Seagate FreePlay
The external hard-disk fell on the floor during operation, the USB converter broke/got fried, I plugged the hard drive on another Converter and it wouldn't start (not at all).
I am quite techy (or crazy with genius) i managed opening the hard drive (after recreating a safe "clean-room" environment) and setting the header back in place (lock position) after it was stuck somewhere on the surface of the magnetic disk. Putting back the HDD together to my amazement was a successful operation after which the HDD initialized after plug in and i can view all the data, system settings and usages.
This seems like a huge success i am now unable to copy the data tho i did try and use Piriform's RECUVA which took a 2 days time to recover approximately 30 out of 800GB (i managed to keep the HDD freezing cool during the whole process to minimize any chance of further damage due to heat)

Any Help PLEASE ?
Try chkdsk first to check for corrupted files and bad sectors. After that, use ZAR (Zero Assumption Recovery) to try and recover the hard drive.

I hope your hard drive isn't damaged enough to finally die when chkdsk is being performed, so be careful.

Honestly i am afraid to proceed with any read/write operations; (limiting it to just read) just to prevent major data destruction; wouldn't it be better to simply proceed with ZAR or maybe image my HDD, and work with the data ??
