Hmm well first you get to pick what server you want to play on, also you can guest on another server when u want.
But i strongly suggest you see a server with people you might know because the point of this whole game is teamwork and as far as i know you can play alone most parts but its not as fun as having couple people helping you and having fun together.
The game is fun at least for a while, the graphics are awesome and the scenery is really good but it got boring eventually since there is a limited amount of things you can do after you get to a certain point, but you should try that for yourself and see.
If you got any more questions i would be happy to answer.

I don't have any friends. But I usually am good at making friends on mmos. I also have my own server which can run teamspeak. That should make me a bit popular. I am thinking european server for 2 reasons, one latency and 2 because people are awake when I am. I played on US servers others mmos, while they were okay, things used to light up at 1~6 am my time.
Anyway, I keep hearing about low frame rates per second in certain locations(forgot what the spot was called) and about the game being really cpu intensive. I don't have the top of the line cpu (i3, 3.30 GHZ 3220 I'm a cost effective guy and always thought VGA was more important in games) Do you notice any low fps?

yes A LOT
Especially because all events are based directly on the map not inside a dungeon or instance so imagine some events with 50+ people running around casting spells and a huge boss doing aoe damage same time. i had times where i couldn't even move.
also there are a lot of maps with events so not all of them are gonna be full with people so no worries.

I didn't like it. Bored after less than a day(6 hours) it seems a lot quest oriented. I don't play an online mmo to be doing quests alone. I joined a supposedly crowded EU server(least that is what the tag said) but it felt so empty... I see some players here and there but no one says anything. No parties, no dungeons and not that many weapons and all those weird items confused me.
I guess it is not a game for everyone...

It is just different then most Mmorpgs out there, i didn't like that there is no tank or healer in the game and u need to keep running so u can't get hit with more then 5 mobs on you that can hit you for half your health, while u have 1 heal for yourself that doesn't heal more then half your health either.
it is like they made every class a damage dealer while some can take a bit more damage then others and use spells to deflect at a certain time and such, it's a game that needs A LOT of teamwork and communication like for example 1 person cast a area shield that you need to go near him really fast to avoid some spell that can kill you instantly.
i would personally give this game a 7.5/10 the graphics are way awesome, there are always events almost every week, staff are friendly, spells and classes can be cool to explore and try for a while, pvp is fun there and its just a change from the major Mmos that look really similar to each other lately.

10/10 on graphics no dispute. But yes like you I disliked that there are no tanks, healers and damage dealers. It's like all the classes are alike except the graphics of the attack is different.
Ah well, it was just 24$ for me. It's funny that I spent more time downloading than playing. I should have paid more attention to the fact that they said "no grinding" personally I love grinding.

Well, I'm no longer a fan of GW2 because of how they directed their updates towards temporary item-shop contents instead of real permanent contents. Guess they are dying just to make more money.
Now, it is true that there are no "Tank" nor "Healer" classes out there. However, when you start doing tough content such as some of the dungeons or high level fractals, you WILL need someone with high toughness making him the "Tank" and/or someone capable of support "Healer". Most encounters require you to avoid damage, but having a "Tank", usually a guardian or a warrior, is to have someone that can take up a beating. Surprisingly, threat is generated towards the player with the highest toughness.
As for grinding. This game is full of grinding. You grind dungeons for gear, you grind pretty much everything to build a legendary. You grind pvp to get some new cosmetic crap... So yeah...

Is there someone here who has an updated client of Guild Wars 2? I tried downloading but it seems to have inflated to more than 50GB since launch.
I have downloaded 3GB and it only showed 4% in the bar.
I can meet you somewhere in Beirut with a Hard Drive or something.
