Anyone planning on buying it once it is released?
Guild Wars 2 - Game Thread
Yep i'm definitely buying it as soon as its released
I was planning on getting the new game, but can only consider putting little time and money at the moment for one mmo, sadly GW2 will have to wait for me, but i really have high expectations for the game, i have seen a lot of footage about it, and i say that this game is an evolution in the mmo world, but we will know more in the full release how promising the game really is.

Well, unlike other MMO, you only need to pay for the game, no monthly subscriptions, and no P2W shop, which makes it cheaper than any other MMO out there.
As for the things which intrigued me to getting the game:
1- So many races and professions to choose from, and each got their own starting area. Story based on a questionnaire which represents your character's biography.
2- Say good bye to KS (Kill stealing), or even farming nodes stealing. If you attack an enemy that someone else is attacking, he gets just as much loot as you do, making helping others worthwhile. As for the crafting nodes on the map, they only exist for you, if anyone else took a node, you can take it again.
3- Everyone can revive, there is a downed state before death, no more tank/healer/dps builds for dungeons.
4- Pvp is quite interesting.

I really do hope Virgin gets the game, I heard they were going to get TERA, which is way less hyped than GW2 :/.
21 days later
Today is 28th of August, the release of GW2. Anyone started playing it?

Of course it is. It is one of the most anticipated games. If SWTOR reached 1.3mil at some point. Then this game, since it is subscription free, should surpass 2 mil! :)
You have to consider that MoP is on the doorstep, it's a trend that most inactive WoW players renew their subs when a new expansion gets released. GW2 will probably get hit by this.Badieh wroteOf course it is. It is one of the most anticipated games. If SWTOR reached 1.3mil at some point. I highly doubt Mist of Pandaria would actually get people playing WoW again, but it will sure give those already playing something to go on with. Plus, don't forget GW2 has no subscription fee, which should be way more cost effective than any other MMO out there.xterm wroteYou have to consider that MoP is on the doorstep, it's a trend that most inactive WoW players renew their subs when a new expansion gets released. Still considering trying Guild Wars 2 or not. Never played the first but i'm well aware of how unique the game is and how well reputable it is. Yet, mmorpgs tend to consume a lot of my time and i'm not sure im willing to invest a chunk of time in these games again. The concept of purchasing the game with no monthly subscription is true, but you have to keep in mind that this game offers in game stores, which means it has the concept of P2W (pay to win) and players who purchase items from the store will have upper edge over others who don't.
No wrong. In PvP everyone is on equal foot and no, it doesn't consume much time, you don't need to level to play high level PvP, all you you need to do is to get your character to level 2, join Heart of Mist and here you go from there. I'm lebanese been playing it for a week now, since I pre-purchached the game, and gw2 pvp == skill; everyone has he same gearRuroken wroteStill considering trying Guild Wars 2 or not. It's well worth every penny upu put on and it's not p2w, you can only buy exotic/cosmetic stuff with gems.
