Choosing my major: CS vs Business

Hello guys ! So , now that i need to get to a university , i passed at usek and well i need to make a big choice here . I don't know what to major in here b...

Simply, you can choose your path when you graduate. You can either go for a masters degree in CS or you can go for a masters degree in BA, Project Management and so on....

If you go for a CS masters degree, you'll repeat about 2 undergraduate courses.

Anyway about MIS, it stands for Managerial Information System, not sure about what it means in french.

i'll add to m0ei:
i too hated math... therefore i did business computing (exactly the same as MIS)
After graduating i found my self more into computers than business, so i did an MS in computer science (i only had to take the "data structures and algorithms course")
Other colleagues hated the computer part and ended doing an MBA after graduating.

"Informatique de Gestion" is equivalent to MIS, more or less.

I second the fact that CS is a very interesting subject, and honestly not choosing CS because of math is silly. However you should not overthink it too much. If you're interested in programming and/or several aspects of computer science, it's easy to get the proper info for free.

Your diploma will help your career, and unless you're planning to do some research later, the jobs available are very similar. A lot of CS graduate and MIS graduate end up at the same jobs.

Talk to the university. Read the specifics about USEK. Which course has the better professors, the better facilities, etc. This is the kind of things I'd worry about.

Ayman is totally right. Whatever major you choose to go for, don't expect to learn a lot - at least not enough to get you ready for a full-time job at a good software development company. You'll have to put a lot of effort into reading and working on side projects. Unless you're absolutely into programming, I suggest you do something else different from MIS and CS.

I could probably say I *almost* learned nothing about programming at the university. Not because the courses were bad or the professors were not good enough, but because I already knew the material of most of the courses. It's available all over the internet, so nothing should stop you from digging right into it even if you were going to med-school, assuming you're really passionate about programming.

Ok thank you guys !
But like i said above, right now its not only about the maths, its about learning businsess too.So i think MIS is the best of both worlds for me now.
And thanks rahmu and scatman for the translation, as i need to pick the major in french in usek, and i wasn't sure i chose the right thing , haha.

under the resultats this is what i got: Gestion (Section anglaise) (Business Information)
Can anyone who studied mis at usek confirm that this is MIs ?

Yes, this is it. I studied at the Lebanese University, and it was called Business Information.
