Chup Hey there, I've got this project in which i need to use virtual machines on hyper-v. What i did was : 1- Enable Virtualization in the bios 2- Installed windows 2008 R2 3- Installed hyper-v as a role. 4- created a Virtual Hard disk 5- created a Virtual machine. 6- ide controller 0's media is the VHD itself. 7- ide controller 1's media ia an iso image of a windows server 2008. whenever i'm attempting to start the machine it gives me a " An error occured whiled attempting to start the selected virtual machine ." going through the server manager , in the event log, the event id is 3040 Am i missing something ? Chup that's exactly the article i'm reading now. But it doesn't show me steps on how to solve them.. Edit : Solved . Sandy Bridge Cpus don't work on Hyper V . Windows 2008 R2 SP1 fixes the issue. Cheers guys
