Getting a cat

Hello Lebgeeks.A friend of mine's cat just gave birth to some baby cats and he wants to get rid of them so i decided to take one off his hands and i really want to give it the best care i can so I was wondering if you could set me in the right direction.

My questions so far are:
What are the best vets in Lebanon?

Where can I get a good electronic litter box?

Are there any specialized stores in Lebanon that sell only cat related stuff like toys and scratching pods?

Where can i get an engraved collar with her name and how much does it cost?

How much do vaccinations and spaying cost?

In general do you think I really should get a cat?

Vaccinations are not that expensive. Less then $100 for all of them.

As vets I recommend Le Veto (they have a place in Gemmayze and in Jounieh) and Animed Veterinary Clinic (in Jounieh I believe).

Cats can be really nice pets, but every cat has a different personnality. Some can be agressive.

I don't know what an electronic litter box is. You'll need to fill a big box with cat litter material (that gravel thing) and the cat will go there. About twice a week, you should remove her "caca". This is probably the worst part of having a cat. You will also have to change the gravel, I guess once a month or so.

Give your cat some wet food, not only dry food.

If it's a female, she will go into heat and it's pretty annoying. If you allow her to breed she can breed 8 or more kitten per year! Cats are wild when it's "the season". They won't hurt you or anything like that, but will do anything in their power to "answer the call of nature".

Also if you're very picky about furniture, or tidiness, you will not be happy. Cats damage furniture (especially tissue, and most of all, paper!). Nothing dramatic (they will not destroy your place overnight), but over time you will see the wear.

One more things, a cat is not a house dog, and they need to get out from time to time and let loose. I can't speak for everyone but I think a cat that is locked in an apartment all the time will get depressed.

@rolf i think you're confusing cats and dogs here, dogs are the ones that need to go out often ... a cat can live its whole life inside a house. In Lebanon it's also not wise to let your cat go out due to @$$holes everywhere; high risk of her not coming back. However you can't keep a male cat inside if he is not neutered or else he WILL go crazy and destroy everything ... I don't know about female cats but i guess it's probably the same they need to be spayed to stay indoors ...

Couple of months ago i got a cat it did not last 1 day with me, i think cats are really aggressive(slim ones).
Good cats are big cats, this type is not aggressive because the cat can barely move.

Every cat has a different personality, and I don't think it's directly related to size as you described, although I have to say bigger cats do seem to be less afraid and less active in general.

I can swing my cat from her back legs and she won't do anything to me. Some cats will get aggressive when you try to grab them, or even randomly.

Every cat is different, and the cats I'm talking about are from the same size.

I just got the cat its a small white Persian.He(male) is not aggressive at all he can't destroy the house even if he wanted to he stays silent when I grab him and doesn't resist.

I took him to Le Veto today they had very good services and provided a lot of information about taking care of him.
