Nabs Sure. You can connect them via a simple Ethernet cable and use Windows 7's simple network setup.

NuclearVision I suppose you have a wifi inteface (receiver) on both computers, if not use an ethernet cable to connect your computers to your modem from the back. Once connected, open explorer.exe and select your pc from the network tab in the bottom left.
AvoK95 To connect them via modem or router you just connect both PC's to the router/modem To connect via Ethernet cable, you just connect them both to each other and select "Home" to set it as a home network. Both PC's must have shared folders.
Ngel to connect both pc's using just one cable (no router or switch) ur going to need a cross cable. it has the same look as a normal lan network cable, but the inside copper wires would be crossed. to connect them both using wifi and no router, you just need to create an ad-hoc wifi connection on one and connect to it from the other the easiest way of doing it would be to get a cheap router (if you dont already have one) and use two normal lan cables, costs around 3-5$ . if you got a switch, you are going to need to manually configure ip's on both and put them on the same subnet and ip range hope that was useful mate!
Badieh Sometimes when I have a friend over, and we want to play a game over LAN, we connect via wireless, then if I can't find him in the game, I would just assign same IPs except for the last digit and it usually works.
