Leonedes Hey guys, I don't know about you, but I extremely hate Whatsapp for the lack of an Appear Offline function! I didn't know it was that easy. Apparently, turning off background data on your phone does the trick (So simple and stupid). Now that also means sacrificing emails and so on ... But its still a neat feature if you want to appear offline all of a sudden. I know many solutions exist by rooting your phone and giving certain applications permission to use the internet, but some have said that apps that use Push cannot be blocked as such. I am running an unrooted ICS by the way. Cheers !
Leonedes I am not 100 %, but last time I checked you need to root your phone to selectively cut data off individual apps, unless there's something similar in ICS I havent discovered.
yasamoka thanks for the info Leonedes! The app that selectively cuts data off individual apps is called DroidWall, and yes it requires root. http://dottech.org/android/21485/android-root-required-block-apps-from-accessing-the-internet-with-droidwall/
The-MMMs If only all my friends used Kik messenger So much better in every way, its an exact BBM clone as well - no online, last seen, or any of that nonsense Just the S,D,R sequence.
Leonedes yasamoka wroteand yes it requires root. Which is exactly why I posted this in the first place ! :p I don't want to root my phone 'just for whatsapp'.
ramiraz The lack of the possibility of going offline is by far the most annoying thing in Whatsapp. I've been searching for a solution in vain. I'm considering removing it.
