Metalloy my sister's laptop ( Dell Latitude E6400) is acting weird lately, every tkme she start using it, it works just fine, but then about an hour later it becomes really laggy and basically unusable. Do you have any idea why? you should know that at this point it becomes really hot( over the board area not the battery area), and also that i've tried to solve this problem by using Hirens Boot disk where i removed all the viruses, spyware, malware, and finally did a chek disk ( based on Avok recommendation), but this did not solve it. any help would be appreciated .
Metalloy because everyone close to me depends on me for solving their problems :D and i depend on the Geeks in here when i don't know or not sure what to do.
AvoK95 Did you clean the heatsink ? Blow air on the fan(s) and heat sink area to remove dust. BTW did you check if the hard drive is damaged ?
AvoK95 Metalloy wrotehow do i know if the hardrive is damaged? Does it make grinding or ticking noises ? Is your hard drive LED always on ? I think Dells have their HDD diagnose in the BIOS or somewhere , run it if you find it.
Metalloy no ticking sound, i think the drive is just fine. However i never cleaned the heat sink or blow air so ill try blowing air first, and if that didnt work ill send to a vomputer shop to clean it. I'll keep you updated, thanks again :D

Ngel couple of stuff to be sure of: number of rams? maybe you are practicly fulling them in that hour or so of work harddisk free space? specially on the system partition i.e c: cpu temprature? get a software called Cputemp. its free and gives you the temprature of your cpu viruses and it derivatives? are you sure you are clean? too many proceses? check the task manager ctrl alt del if none of the above works, please report back
AvoK95 Metalloy wroteit is a 100 gb hardrive where only 6gb are free, is that it? Yes. you should only use 75% of a hard drive so that it doesn't get any slow and have some headroom.
Badieh Overheating seriously degrades the performance of the Laptop. I'll give you an example, back when it was winter time, I used to play SWTOR on my laptop for quite sometime, maybe all night, and nothing goes wrong. During the heat waves we got past month, I couldn't play more than 2 hours, the fps would drop from 30 to 5-6 after a while. I usually just restart my laptop, but I tried something one day, brought the huge fan and placed it right on top of the laptop, and guess what? FPS went back up to 30 after a min. So I suggest getting a laptop fan table.
Metalloy as i remember her laptop has 4 gb rams so it is good, and yes i got.rid of all.viruses and malware and spyware. Ill chek the cpu tenperature when i can and ill tell her to try and free up some space from hard disk. And yea we should get her a fan table. thanks guys for the help :)
