Metalloy well, the title pretty much sums it up, yesterday i noticed electric current ( being bare foot made it possible) from the body of two laptops ( my sister's and my girlfriend's laptop if you really care about the details XD). One of them is an HP and the other is a Dell. Do you guys know what might be the problem? both laptops are working, and both have been around for 2 years or a little more.
AvoK95 On the plug of your laptop you may see 3 pins (One of them is most likely cut off since you won't use it) So that pin which is cut off is to plug in a outlet that has ground, which is vary rare in Lebanon (Almost doesn't exist). Without ground your laptop will give you an electric shock if you touch the ground with you skin. Most laptop do this because the grounding design won't be that good. You can even expect touch pad problems in the future. That's why it's always better to buy more expensive laptops than budget laptops , and when buying them make sure that the power brick (Or adapter) Comes with 2 pins by default.
shant sounds like your sister and girlfriend are being used to ground the static :P was the floor wet or humid? that usually shocks you
solo220 earbuds?? LOL my eyes flash when i put my bare feets on the ground while wearing the earbuds, with wet feets you could hear a hamming sound.

rolf That's why electrical outlets should be grounded. Most are not properly grounded in Lebanon, as far as I know. It's like a luxury. Heck 24 hour electricity is a luxury.
TPR0 I'm not finding the model, but those are related : http://www.sbs-power.com/search.htm?str_src=outlet&x=0&y=0 I'm not sure that they perform the same thing. Got one from Radio shack.
TPR0 EMI/RFI filter check it... Try other types power supply for your laptop. My phone have the same problem, (touchscreen interference). I tried the Nikkon camer usb charger, no ground passage. I think its the rectifier problem that its passing the ground depending on the 3 pin connector...
