Hello LebGeeks,
This is my first post and i am truly happy to find you community as i always felt that there was a big lack of such forums in our parts of the world.
Enthusiasts living here are certainly having troubles with the supply of high end hardware at fair prices in a logical time frame.
This is not just about high end hardware, even some necessary accessories are missing:
I was once told by the owner of one "Big" hardware stores in Lebanon that they didn't have thermal paste and they reused the original paste on the heat-sink if they ever had to remove it, he certainly wasn't talking about MX4 or Indigo Extreme but about that generic stuff used for electronics that is perfectly unsuitable to dissipate 130W and sometimes twice more if O/C is involved.
Furthermore it seems that no liquid cooling coolant is available in Lebanon yet some people do sell cooling kits (I was able to get few liters from a Lebanese Etailer once).
Now to my question:
As i have been living abroad for quite sometime i'm really out of the market and i have no clue about prices and availability of specific items.
I'm running a RIVF with 3930K @ 5.1 Watercooled (Custom loop) 16GB Corsair Dominator GT @ 2333 and an SLI of 580GTX's that i need to upgrade not for bragging rights but because of 3D surround gaming
(3XLG 2363D full HD 3Dvision displays are more than what 2x 580's can handle).
I have two options : Get a third 580GTX from Lebanon (i can quad SLI on my mobo but i think that heat issues would arise).
Sell the two 580 GTX's and get from the states (EVGA) one or two 690's (but evga will only sell one per household so price will be higher for the second one).
What is the current pricing of 580GTX's in Lebanon ? new or used ? are they available ?
Any advice regarding the upgrade as the 690's are a big investment especially if the 580's don't sell well around here.
Thank you,
Thunderman

According to
PcandParts website, an Inno3D Geforce GTX 580 3GB costs $686.5 all taxes included.

Thanks for the quick reply,
I'm aware of the PcandParts Inno3D 3GB version but since my other two GTX's are 1.5GB it is not worth the price for me as i would waste the extra 1.5GB when going Tri-SLI.
(it is actually more expensive than the Msrp of the GTX680 499USD).
Thank you,
WizaRd
Well I would think by now you should get used to overpriced stuff in this part of the world.
Best of luck ^^

@Thunderman: Hello mate, when I saw your post I knew I had to reply for two obvious reasons. First, the 580’s selling price. Second, most important about “Local Market Stores” and ROG Store effort to put all these claims to an end.
First, I highly recommend selling them since nowadays you are able to run “Nvidia Surround” with up to 4 display monitors on a single Gpu. Last not least, SLI on Kepler is smoother like butter in other words “Micro Stuttering Is Over”. I used to sell ASUS 580 DCuII Top for 680$ T.T.C when others used to sell the Reference Model for the same price.
Note: 380$ is a fair price.
Edit: The only 580 based models available now are EVGA (Hydro Copper2 / Classified / Classified Ultra Hydro Copper).
Second, sadly as you have mentioned earlier our market used to lag off “High Tech Hardware Items” and luckily for the sake of our market consumers ROG. Store was founded; My Mission is to deliver the best Hardware Products with the most affordable prices and a leading edge customer support to satisfy P.C Gamers Community in Lebanon.

Thank you guys for your replies,
in regards to my issue I'm leaning towards the 690 and possibly the Quad-SLI as the TRI-SLI of 580's is definitely way less powerful and some of the AA features of the 6xx series are good to try TXAA i believe.
some hesitation remains as it is clear that NV will release the GK110 soon (as it has released a K10 tesla and announced the K20 tesla based on the GK110 the fully enabled real high end Kepler).
Frankly the Micro-stuttering was almost non existent with the 580's SLI especially after the R300 series and Adaptive VSync it really felt way smoother than before. FXAA also helps running 5760x1080 resolution in 3D without taxing the GPU and VRAM too much with standard AA.
On the other hand my 580's aren't reference models, its the Gigabyte Factory Overclocked model with the Windforce 3X cooling they really run cooler even in SLI and have a relatively low VID (Hardcore O/c'ers might appreciate).
I didn't know about the ROG Lebanon store, i hope that the demand for such hardware will increase with time,
It sometimes feels that we in Lebanon have a few years long Lag in IT matters, communications etc... this is sad ...

@ thunderman: You are welcome mate, I agree with you concerning the big papa Kepler “GK110 / GK112” and to be honest the release is sooner than anyone has expected; on the other hand AMD HD 8XXX Series both 'Venus' and 'Oland' are reported to be released soon. Match the two recipes together a hot summer is on the way ;).
Your gigabytes 580s are good mate thus, my personal best 580s were the “Matrix / Lightning Extreme / DCuII”.
Note: I am currently running a similar Rig of yours:
ASUS RAMPAGE IV EXTREME (Bios:1305), CORE i7-3960X Extreme Edition @4.7GHZ, 2Way SLI ASUS GTX680, G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3 1866MHz, Dimastech Easy Bench V2.5, CORSAIR H100, Primary Storage - Crucial M4 256GB SSD, Secondary Storage - (X2) WD 1TB Black Edition Raid0, ANTEC TPQ 1200W.

@tarekelkhaledi : Thanks mate for your ongoing support,
I did some research regarding the micro-stuttering issue and it seems that its better to be running a single GK110 when available or 690 or dual 690's in quad as those cards have a new frame metering technology deemed to highly reduce micro-stuttering, frametime is controlled by a chip on the PCB bridging the two GK104's unfortunately this tech is not available on the single gpu keplers ie 680's nor on the current AMD offering, anyways i have to stick to NV since i'm running triple 3DVision monitors with the 3D vision 2 Kit and i wouldn't want to throw all that away.
It also seems that for those running 680's in dual sli the best answer to micro-stuttering is by adding a third card as it brings down the micro-stuttering to the lowest levels possible.
Best

@thunderman: You are welcome mate.
Frankly, mate “Micro Stuttering” is not a problem for Kepler based Gpu’s; in fact, GK SLI Scaling is much better from Fermi models thus, once “Adaptive VSYNC” is turned on problems kicks in, first, you will face 30FPS Drop whereas Micro Stuttering kicks in too. This is what causing problems for Kepler; I have been talking with an “Engineer” from the Green Team he was clear that the problem would be solved soon with an update driver pack.

@Tarek
You are 100% right man, i have been running Win8 RP x64 for quite some time and i received this morning a notification to update to Geforce 302.80 drivers, they seems to resolve the problem regarding Adaptive Vsync so the Green Team Engineer did not lie...
This driver in spite of Nvidia's claims can also be installed on Win7
BTW a new BIOS has been released for the Rampage 4 series (1404)
Cheers,
taekh3
@thunderman: Thanks mate ;), indeed, the 302.80 released to fix these problems.
Note: I thought you would not mention it: D, I have already downloaded it and installed it thus, ROG Team have tosses lots of effort on this “Bios”. I am going to OC that doll even more to see where I can breach its limits.
Cheers.

@ tarek
I might be hijacking my own thread but anyway had to tell you this :
The 1404 bios is indeed more stable on both the RIVE and R4F
i was able to reach 5303Mhz stable with a much lower than expected Vcore
mem @ 2400 tighter timings and super pi 1M went down from 7.14 to 6.95sec
Wprime 32M : 3.39 sec all on a stock Win8 (i should try on a light benchmarking version)
Its now so much fun messing again with the Rampage I need Dry Ice + Pots ... don't you ?
taekh3
@thunderman: Oh, yeah mate; while messing around with my RIV-E i have managed to hit the 5.540MHz ;).
Oh, god you just do not know what I can do with these goodies: D, once I got them between my hands I will do wonders.
Note: You did fire me up.
thunderman
Great O/c 5540 on H2O is starting to become very nice ^^
I was only able to bench at 5407 using 125 strap as my CPU doesn't like multipliers higher than 51X (on H2O logical voltages at least)
I'm having to compromise with the DRAM speed cause I need the fastest superPi 1M possible I have shaved 0.144 since yesterday... but I definitely need a light win8 version for benching
shouldn't we start an X79 O/c thread or even a Sandy/Ivy Bridge O/C thread ?
We should also ask Lebanese Overclockers to join Hwbot to post, Lebanon was the last country as it had 0 participants, it went to place 106 yesterday with just two submissions.

All I can say, I wish that would be a reality thus, to accomplish that people needs to steer their faces towards “High End Hardware”.
Cheers.

Update:
Lebanon is now in the top 100 : place 96 with with just 5 submissions
Lets open a thread on this subject and tell everyone
we will have so much fun challenging each others as a team (i created the team ROGLebanon on HWbot)
but everyone is invited even if running other hardware.
PS: i scored P14373 on 3DMark 11 with the dual 580GTX's @stock cooling
i think its time to go Quad SLI 690's ;)
I'm going to get the Pots for Dry Ice and if we ever can use LN2 it would be awesome...
Cheers guys,
@Avo I go by thunderman all the way but as far as O/C is concerned i'm only on HWbot if you wish to concentrate your efforts elsewhere tell me and ill glady join

@thunderman: One word, mate I am waiting these dolls :P.
