Official downloadable google maps for Android

At last Google decided to cross the line and will release downloadable maps for Android version of Google Maps, this is a HUGE good news for us as it's a pain in the a** to find english GPS maps for Lebanon.
I hope they will release them very soon :)

i think it would be way better when google maps navigation becomes available in lebanon,it's better than the directions in the maps application that we currently have,in order to get navigation support we must have a detailed map so please all contribute in the Google maps maker project,the current community based map is very very detailed (at least in my area) i also added few roads and got email from google that my edits were accepted.so please contribute in this project and add some roads in your area.

OpenStreetMap just crashed my browser. Their page scripts are running and making the pages unresponsive. Used Firefox.
