Hello all,
I have had to take English language proficiency tests, so I have taken GRE 7 months ago and I got 149 on verbal reasoning section- I had to get 150 to be exempted from TOEFL- with a percentile rank of 48% below which is considered relatively good since most test takers are native Americans and since most of the questions have something to do with american culture, music, politics their bloody civil war and other humanitarian trashy lies which I know nothing about. I also got 2.5/6 on the writing section with percentile rank of 2% below LOL, so I now have to take TOEFL.
unfortunately my TOEFL exam is next Friday and I have not prepared for it yet and I also don't have enough time to prepare well for it(I have Neurophysiology, microbiology laboratory exams besides to 180 pages of advanced molecular biology and biotechnology I haven't read yet)
I need to get 97/120 on TOEFL, so I need some advice from those who have taken the test recently because as far as I know the test contains a lot of "tricks"which really determine the grade in high score ranges.
can anyone tell me about those tricks? or at least tell me what to watch for in each section?
and since the exam is internet based what is the best strategyto follow in answering?
my English language is good but I have memory problems I can't memorize names and numbers for short term memorizing, would that affect listening section? I also have a big spelling problem-I use spell-check a LOT- how much would spelling mistakes lower my writing grade?
as for the speaking section how to train for it?!!
I will solve couple template tests before going hope that this will help.
Thanks in advance.....
