It might have an amazing speed up to 150 mbps and loaded with features. It is very bad
1-Wireless signal changes to 3 squares or below on a distance of 2 meters
2-Interface is slow in loading
3-Some Sites don't load
4-When you turn it on it tends not to load properly
5-Laptops sometimes fail to read it via wifi
i reverted back into my old modem because of this c*ap
don't make this mistake! I wonder if other edimax models are as bad as this
I always choose Linksys or Cisco products when it comes to networking.
They may be expensive or have week wireless signals, they are very durable (Used and still using my router for 8+ years without a single problem).
They are very stable routers with great features.
They never freeze , disconnect or have their settings erased.

I would recommend Cisco and only Cisco products when it comes to networking. I just don't find other brands having such good advantages like Cisco.
@ibxoful: You cannot generalize this way. If it did not work for you doesn't mean the product is crap. Most of the problems you describe seem to come from poor configuration.

@ballad & Monkey D. Luffy: I agree, awards don't mean anything. They often hide commercial agreements between editors and magazines (not that this is what happened in this particular case). You cannot trust these things, the best thing you can hope for is to read many reviews from different customers.

@AvoK95: I can think of others brands more open and less overpriced than Cisco.
@ rahmu, what do you mean by open ? And yes it's true that Cisco is overpriced. But don't forget that you're getting a good quality product.
What I would personally steer clear off is the Buffalo routers (or is it bufalo?). Got one from Radioshack, it is pretty lousy.
awards are given to particular high end series
not for this 20$ edimax router
maybe edimax has some awesome routers but not for 20$
Linksys quality decreased over the years once they were great but now they are just overpriced name tags.
I bought a Linksys X3000 modem/router combo shipped straight from the UK a month ago and it was a shiny piece of cr*p.
Bad wireless security
Not nearly getting a good signal as advertised
Speed also not nearly good as advertized

I reverted back to my 5 year old trendnet.

All Linksys routers/modems or any other wireless devices have bad wireless coverage. But it mostly depends on where you've placed the device. If you have 10 walls passing through it that of course the wireless won't be good.

What's wrong with WPA2 and MAC filtering ?

Also your speed defers depending how you've configured the router.

You cannot set an AES encryption on it and MAC filtering slows the router down resulting in a slower internet speed.
And I configured it properly using manuals and Live chat with there customer support.

Btw: Good customer service, bad product just don't tell them you're from Lebanon and they will answer you.
I don't know about the MAC filtering but all new Linksys product support AES.
I got my WAT-120N modem and it supports AES,TKIP or both.
Here's a screen shot.

I also have an 8 year old WRT54G2. That doesn't support AES.
@port80
Update your firmware.
The only update for it is 1.0.0.1 which according to the release notes only contains new languages.
Then I guess the X3000 doesn't support AES.
But usually you won't need something that extreme since hackers don't even bother cracking your wireless signal when they see your passkey is in WPA2.

Cisco: WRT firmware , yeah its more open that others...
Well, I think that tp-link TL-WR841N is nice, I mean it has competitive and an price affordable like 35$, great range (it has 2 antennas each one is 5DbI) and at last it is superfast 300Mbps!
what do you think guys?
