Flash the CM9 Nightly for maguro ... best ROM i've tried yet
Also, I would advise you to wait a couple of months, the new iphone and the new nexus's (rumored to be one for each manufacturer) come out

I doubt the new nexus's would be worth it or affordable it and no way iphone.mezin wroteFlash the CM9 Nightly for maguro ... best ROM i've tried yet

I'm sure the price then is not gonna be much different than the price now ... and i'm sure the upgrades for the camera alone are worth it. I like my nexus however the camera is disastrous for such a high end device... also battery life is terrible even for smartphone standards. So yea I'm sure it's worth the wait...geekevo wroteI doubt the new nexus's would be worth it or affordable it and no way iphone.mezin wroteFlash the CM9 Nightly for maguro ... best ROM i've tried yet

Also why is it "no way iPhone" ? I had an iPhone 4 and I have nothing but good things to say about it...
The price of the iphone would alone be very high and the new nexus devices will enter the market at which is to much for me.mezin wroteI'm sure the price then is not gonna be much different than the price now ... and i'm sure the upgrades for the camera alone are worth it. get this... If it says anytihng other than yakju (the likes of yakjuxw) then your phone is updated by samsung (through the original carrier) and not google thus i recommend to flash the official google yakju rom onto your phone because good luck waiting for the updates if you don't !geekevo wroteYes thank you very much i will wait to get the factory image for jb thank you i just want to know did you do the same thing and were did you get your phone from
EDIT : the app was pulled from the play store apparently, try to find the apk it's GN official update checker
EDIT2: this is a good alternative to check with

yes you can flash yakju so you start getting updates from google (faster than samsung) and yes you need to unlock the bootloader.geekevo wroteI am on yakjujp so that is non yakju so i should flash the yakju image? do i need an unlocked bootloader?mezin wroteget this... if you dont have the Galaxy nexus drivers installed on your pc use this http://pdanet.co/bin/PdaNetA302x64.exe install this software it comes with the Galaxy nexus drivers
steps
1 download the image 4.0.4 yakju from the first link i gave you in the older post.
2 download the toolkit from the second link i gave you in the older post and install it.
3 copy the image you downloaded the toolkit, there is folder there named put_imge_here copy it there.
4 put your phone in FastBoot mode. t urn off the phone, press and hold the vol+ vol- and at the same time press and hold the power button. green android should appear with it its door open dont press anything on the phone after that.
5 connect your phone to your pc, and run toolkit. select your android version from the list.
6 after that you should see long list of options. you want the Extract and Flash Google Factory Stock Rom command. and select it.
toolkit should extract the image and flash it your phone
that is the method I used
I just got Jellybean OTA yesterday, sweet!
Yes it's very advisable to flash yakju ... don't worry unlocking the bootloader and loading the stock rom (which you get from google's website) is very easy many online guides existgeekevo wroteI am on yakjujp so that is non yakju so i should flash the yakju image? do i need an unlocked bootloader?mezin wroteget this...
