The tech savy or the uber geek need not to read any further.
This is for people that :
- are in between dsl subscriptions (switching between isps could take 2month +)
- those that live in dorms or rent appartements with no phone lines ( like meeee)
- those that have wise wigo or mobi and dont want dsl due to x-reason ( the modem price investement usually)
- people that want to use 3g on their pcs but dont want to buy a 3g dongle
YOU ,dear sir or madam ,can use 3g from your phone provided you have a jailbroken iphone or android( didnt test on android)
Whats needed
- any iphone 3gs or +
- 3g (duhhhh)
- a little app from CYDIA called MYWI 4.0 (thats the version i use)
1- MYWI
Search on cydia and you ll find it. Remember to load cracked repos for the free version
Mywi emulates a wifi or a ehternet modem using ur iphone as a modem.
I usually connect thru the iphone cable to the usb of my desktop
Setting is pretty straight forward and intuitive just follow the screen.
Disconncet your current internet , attach your iphone and press the middle option ( usb option).
U should be able to connect to the internet, test browsing google.com or any other site.
I ve tested this on starcraft2 Eu and LOL north east , the ping was stable at 140 ms almost most of the time ,no lag spikes or anything.
Pinging ankara , nicosia other cyprus cities and damascus (0.0) yielded pings below 100ms
I ll wait for the evening to test during rush hour and tell you about my ping , but from the get go i can tell you that my starcraft 2 experience was super smooth even with a huge number of units on screen.
One really cool thing about this feature is the app tells you by the second how much bandwidth you have used up and down.
PS: i suggest upgrading to the 500mb plan or more ,
500 --> 19 doll
1gb --> 32 doll tax not included.
