Very cool pics arithma, I'm particularly fond of the first and last ones. I like the fact that I can see how you drew them.
For the record, I found out that this concept is rooted in the work of Peter Henderson, a scientist who developed a functional programming language used to draw images on the screen. The most famous picture one can describe using this language is probably M. C. Escher's "
Square Limit".
I learned about this while reading SICP. If you're interested I suggest you take a look (at either the book or the lecture videos), as they present the matter in a very elegant way. And if you've ever been interested in drawing pixels on a screen, you'll definitely be interested in learning this.
