Good morning friends. Every time I browse through social networks, blogs etc... I realize a lot of stuff that piss me off about Lebanon regarding the people, culture and environment. Take politics, the government, wars and sectarian stuff aside.

- There are some pages that show photos from events and nightlife stuff, supposed to reflect what goes around in those stupid, useless events and I find the photos and the people in it utterly disgusting. People just look crazy! The society has really went crazy! masses of young people acting in horrible ways, looking drunk and stupid. Stupidity is evident on their faces. Girls in almost naked clothes looking drunk and acting crazy, I question do these girls have parents?

And then some idiots including repressed arabs comment with something like "Yeah! This is Lebanon!" or some other lame thing.

I am not against people having fun and enjoy their time but I hate the fact that this nightlife and crazy drunk shit has become the country's image along with "Lebanese women are bomb" and "terrorism" of course. And youth having no real goals in their lives farther than thinking what they're going to eat today and if their GF is cheating on them and how many night clubs they have to visit tonight.

I think Lebanon's youth is LOST. Most of the youth today just want to get a degree and secure a nice job that isn't much hard nor challenging. And when they don't have anything to do they just "live their life" => spend their money on useless stuff along with other idiots wasting their time, wasting resources and just killing any opportunity for them becoming something useful for this damn country. Lack of orientation from family, schools and universities is one of the reasons.

Worse is that everyone(especially politicians) usually bitch about the Lebanese youth, yeah our youth is our future they will make Lebanon better bla bla bla. What they would be really meaning is the youth belonging their own sect, because they're going to vote for their children one day.

Furthermore, I have noticed that there exists an obsession within the society it revolves around marriage and looking super attractive to get to marry a rich man. Every single girl dream is when the prince is coming to marry her and when he comes she leaves everything including her education, learning etc.. to get married. Fueled by a stupid bunch of old people thinking their girls are princesses. And then the man has to pay for a luxurious wedding(although he can barely buy a car) => loans. And I really hate that, marriage is not everything in ones life.

I hate the image of this country and it has to change.
i spent my childhood living abroad (0 - 12 years in UK) and right now ive been in Lebanon since

For the record im 19

I absolutely agree with every single point you just said

And please, nobody close this topic, i don't believe its a rant, its a cry for concern

I do find many Lebanese youth fall into this cycle, they don't really wish to benefit themselves. Truth be told, i suppose we all have the capacity to do something good. I don't think our country should be a means to just study and work, have fun etc. Although that sounds all good and well, it takes a very big turn in Lebanon

I don't really see (doesn't mean they don't exist) hard workers. I don't tend to speak about myself, but honestly speaking i think im the only one of my whole friends who bothered having a job since 16, and im still working a total of 24 hours per week and making SOME living for myself; i don't just rely on parental contribution

If anything, this has really disciplined me, i may spend it on "useless things" (mostly everything in the signature) but honestly speaking at least i have this sense of success that "yeah i did this"

i think Lebanese Youth lack discipline. I hate to generalize but it seems the case. Most people are handed their lives on silver and gold plates. Being part of a univeristy and seeing such things is also very staggering

Lebanese univeristies (not all) seem to be falling into some sort of prestigious category. People go just for the sake of going. It's like someone who persues an education but has no passion to learn. That is a very very dangerous and ignornat notion that i see at univerisites. And at 5000+ USD a semester i wonder how people think.

So in general i think its just general discipline that corrupts youth, some blame it on the "balad" and the corruption, its more than that.

And also yeah, there seems to be this odd notion between youth to have girlfriend/boyfriend, and SERIOUS relationships. Most of my 20 year old collegues are considering engagment, they are 20 years of age. Whatever makes them happy, but i wonder if they are really serious about this. I mean if it's just 1 or 2 cases then yeah perhaps. But when i see over 90% of young couples considering early marriage then i don't know, it seems incredibly rushed into - perhaps pressure ? I really don't know, im no relationship guy so i really don't know.
Ayman Farhat, I SALUTE YOU from Canada!

Very well said my friend.

Will elaborate later on...
That's overgeneralizing at its best.

Oh and by the way it can be applied to most other countries.

Just to make my point clearer. I am not against those do exist everywhere but in Lebanon everything is abused to the maximum. The image of the Lebanese society is all about women, dancing, singing , nightlife, marriage. And that really sucks in my opinion. And the youth that is supposed to change all that is fully immersed within this whole shallow cycle. No production, no real art, no innovation what so ever. What they usually consider as "innovation" in Lebanon and hammer our heads about online and on TV would actually be some stupid site built with Php and duct tape.

Anything in Lebanon is overrated. We have a dirty image like no other. This is Lebanon.

And no I am not overgeneralizing my friend, the whole society is like that, I am living in it and it sucks.
We have reached a point where the Moral damage has far far exceeded the structural damage in this country.

Even if the so called revolution starts today - hopefully, fixing the people's morality needs at least a century and even my kids won't have the life i wanted.

Until then,

خليلي مزاجك رايق، وحياتك لا، لا تفقسنا !!!
dude chill, have a beer or smoke some pot, you don't have to be fighting temptations all the time.. just give in to this superficial galore of entertainments, you'll lead an easy life culminating a peaceful death (not a threat :P)
what would you expect from a country whose folks' plans are only about dining and whining? whose politicians are the bellwethers? whose patronage is a pile of resounding words? whose babes are so gorgeous that entrances people and makes them run into traffic poles :P (naaa that is mother russia for the win)

the only solution is to reduce it to rubble while people are away on vacation, when they can afford it(i don't want to be called a mass murderer), and build the rail tracks that leads into the bright blue/orange/transparent future ... nah really the foundation to any country is a good transportation system, reminisce the old Lebanon of the trains, tramways and decent taxis :P
Guys, you know the rule.

We close these topics not because we disagree, but because we believe Lebgeeks is not the place for them. It's not just that the topic is out of LG boundaries. It's also that it has no discussion, no question, no debate. Remember this simple rule of thumb: If a topic has a question ending in a question mark, we're far less likely to close it.

I would genuinely appreciate seeing more blog posts venting about this issue. On a side note, when facing a problem you have two sorts of reactions: either doing something about it or complaining and crying because it's unfair. Which one will you have? Something to think about ...
