This isnt the most original thread but its for fun. What games do you hate that are loved by gamers and critics? For me its L.A Noire and Assassin Creed franchise , both boring , repetitive and quickly gets tiresome ... Whats yours?
Joe
GTA, hands down single most boring game I've ever played.
To be fair, I remember playing GTA2 (aerial 2D view, 3 gangs, that's it) and liking it, but series became super boring after GTA3.
I did play through most of the 3 and a good part of Vice City though.
Maybe I'm just soured because I couldn't do any of the stupid airplane missions in San Andreas.

For me.. these 2 games are the most that i hate, that i never get them..And that Every Network that i go to, i see people sitting there for houurs playing it .. Maybe even they are the same game but i dont know..
World of Warcraft (all of them).. and Dota
I mean, i tried to play it once, it just has soo many varieties of things you can summon which you wont know anything about them, i played on easy vs 1 CPU and i got kicked in the ass.. by the easy computer..!
I build like a whole entire army of solders and those bosses also (i forgot what their called), with all of that army, they kicked my ass with just a couple of soldiers riders and 1 boss.. PFF...
I think Red alert 2 is alooot aloooooot better than these games
Achmed
Lol @Av0lio i tried Dota on easy but couldnt play it without having a computer (insane) on my team.@rahmu As for GTA the series went downhill from gta iv which got all these 10's and 9.5's from sites and was horrible.
Joe
@AVOlio: Dota is actually pretty fun, but it takes a LONG time to become good at it. The immense variety of heroes/items/builds you can get make for extremely interesting combinations. A lot of the game is played on paper (metaphorical paper that is), where the correct combination of stats is far more interesting than the speed/timing of your clicks.
In a 5vs5 game, the possibilities are near endless, and strategy comes completely into play. Pros have advanced strategies so complex it would blow your brains out.
It really is a knowledge game, people claiming they lost because of luck or cheating, often cannot make simple calculations in their heads, so they don't get what really happened.
As far as I recall the game engine wasn't really optimal, which caused the
appearance of clones. Then again I used to play a gazillion years ago the game was still at its infancy (I'm honestly not surprised it survived this far). Back then we had "only" 70 heroes to chose from and less than a hundred items. I cannot imagine how far they should be now!
The most impressive thing about this game is that it was made simply out of the Map Editor of Warcraft III (a whole other awesome game in its own rights, it revolutionized the RTS game field).
Disclaimer, I played DOTA pretty intensly from 2005 to early 2007, I don't know how up to date my info is.

I hate the "Call of Duty" franchise in all its numbers.
"Assassin's Creed" proved a bit boring and repetitive, but the production values were very high and really appreciated.
"Grand Theft Auto"? What awful game is this?
Khaled
Counter strike... i hate everything about it... cant stand it ... and nearly EVERYONE loves it ...
Hybrid
I hate CoD too
I hate all FB games and all the invites and requests i get
I hate the new jagged alliance game *puke*
AVOlio
@rahmu, yea man thats exactly whats the game about.
Just the intense variety of things you can summon, only that makes your head thinking deeply,
like which soldier or riders should i choose, or which Hero (Bosses as i called them) should i choose to accompany and lead this part of my army .. and stuff..
Also as i remember, you cant build a Big Big army, you have to summon those things called "Ziggurats" as i recall (the building which offer food to your troops), I even still remember the sound of the PC saying
"Summon moore Ziggurats"
I was like WTF.. I wanna build a Huge entire army, and i cant.. Without building ziggurats.
LoL and also you have to cut Wood from the forests around you, to actually build these "buildings" or else you cant build anything ..
So yea, as far as only these basic stuff like creating an army or building the buildings Need alot of thinking and calculations.. I cant Imagine how creating the actual war and battle strategies to defeat your opponents would be !
And like you said, its gonna take veery long time for someone new to know this game, learn its contents and actually be good at it ..! Veery long time.
And im not one of those gamers who like doing that, like you shouldnt have to study and memorise a game! Your playing on your computer, which is supposed to be something fun. Its not like your at history class at school (God i hated history class xD)
So yea, thats why i didnt like the game.. !
LoL after i started loosing alot, i played with its cheats, and started kicking the computers ass instead xD

@Khaled: You just cannot hate counter!
I hate dotta, wow, Fifa or anything like it
AVOlio

Great topic, refreshing!
My games are all summed up in...you know it: "Call Of Duty". I consider such games that have multiplayer portion as the main reason for its price, then excuse me and go develop a CoD MMOFPS. Keep on releasing Expansion packs instead of fully boxed sequels.
There are a lot of other games that i hate and others love but simply i couldnt talk about those games because they are good, but not what I want to play.
When i decide to buy a game, 2 factors i do take into consideration are: Fun, Story. Either one of them or both are available in video game. Also Fun is a relative term that some may consider.......Sadism is fun! To some gamers Demon's Souls and/or Dark Souls are fun.
mezin
What is this blasphemy going on in here ? counter strike is the mother of all FPSs , GTA IV was an epic game and V is gonna be even better (one of the few games that is getting better not vice versa)
As for AC i guess to each his own, the repetition was most prominent in the first game of the series then it got better, the story line alone is worth it IMO
as for DOTA, remember it's a free mod "map" for world of warcraft and look how huge it became you have to respect that
COD 4 was good when it was released, not so good when it was subsequently re-released 4 times after that
If there is a series that I regret watching it stumble and die it's the command and conquer series, zero hour was the last good release then it all went downhill, however i'm keeping my hopes up for generals 2 that is powered by frostbite 2.0
AVOlio
Yea speakin of Command and Conquer Generals, i never understood that game either xD
Its a little complicated like Dota.. but of couurse not as much like it !
Achmed
@mezin everyone has his own opinion , hence the topic :p But Gta S.A blows IV @Karim nice way in choosing , i also take in consideration the "graphics" which i know is wrong but cant play an ugly game. @Avolio But its one of the easiest strategy games :p Another game i hate which got critical acclaim is portal 2 . Too much thinking than playing

omarmasri wroteall strategy games Red alert generals dota whatever I just hate those games
i will stand by you oh valiant one and take the flame with you ! I just can't stand strategy games
i also hate (yes hate is a strong word to use and i mean it) Fifa / Pro evolution football (i don't mind any other sport games)
Gamer
I hate all football video games. your just chasing a ball, i see groups of players just sitting and playing it. this is one of the few games you can actually play outside. Seriously if it is raining i would understand but Lebanon has 300 days of sunshine.
I love FPS (Serious Sam (miss that game), Strategy (all), Simulation (not the Sims, Trains, Airplane, but as economy, monopoly), puzzles.
Mostly I love games that i get my moneys worth.
shant
generals, i just hate it
as for dota, i know how to play it im just not good at it, takes months to learn each players abilities and weakness, its just like starcraft moded maps, balance is very tight, i play hacked starcraft maps that are very similar to dota, dota is probably an idea stolen from that, but anyway its very very good, the thing is, at first you hate dota or starcraft dota like maps, but after you get used to it and learn the abilities, you get addicted!
